<p>The City of Ankeny has a need for an individual for a summer internship. The internship is intended to provide on the job experience for those interested in helping maintain the sports complex fields and grounds in the Park & Recreation Department.</p> <p> </p> <p>This is a paid internship, $17.50/hour, 40 hours per week for thirteen weeks to begin May 18, 2026 and ending August 14, 2026.</p> <p>Questions may be directed to Elliott Josephson, Sports Facilities Superintendent at 515-963-3577 or ejosephson@ankenyiowa.gov.  </p> <p>Applications will be taken until the position is filled. Pre-employment drug screen and background check required.</p> <p>Application QR Code:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Specific duties shall include, but not limited to:</p> </li><li> <p>Clay work including infield skin, mounds, and home plate.</p> </li><li> <p>Turf work including fertilizer and pesticide applications, mowing, and edging.</p> </li><li> <p>All cultural practices including mowing, irrigation, aerification, topdressing, deep tine, slicing, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Basic equipment maintenance.</p> </li><li> <p>Irrigation scheduling and repair.</p> </li><li> <p>Wear management.</p> </li><li> <p>All applicants will be considered; however, preference will be given to current students majoring in Sports Turf or Golf Course Management.  </p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be at least 18 years old.</p> </li><li> <p>Must maintain a valid Iowa drivers' license.</p> </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Outdoor setting, extreme weather conditions. </li></ul>
