<p>Metals USA is seeking a Plant Manager for our Union, NJ location. The Plant Manager will execute production safety, housekeeping, recruitment, orientation and training of all new hires as well as on-going training and development of entire production workforce. The Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring a preventive maintenance program and warehouse functions comply with Metals USA and all regulatory agencies.</p> <p>Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Initiates and executes production plan and process, clarifies and exceeds production goals. Creates production schedule and workflow duty assignments. </li><li>Interacts with all departments to ensure optimal production and on-time delivery schedule. </li><li>Recruits, hires, orient/trains and retains production front-line supervisors and employees. Leads an ongoing world-class production orientation program. </li><li>Strives continually to improve manpower utilization to align with production process in order to positively impact revenue. </li><li>Supervises the receipt of incoming material shipments, verifying that appropriate receipt and quality control inspections are completed in a timely manner and appropriate transactions are made to complete the receiving process. </li><li>Ensures that materials in the warehouse are stored properly, inspected and processed via accepted material handling and warehousing principles. Supervises and participates in the physical inventory control process. </li><li>Supervises staging of materials to support timely delivery of materials, prepare shipments of items as required and prepare materials for processing to scrap. </li><li>Develops, implements and executes production tracking and quality control systems to analyze production quality control and capacity utilization. </li><li>Ensures that collective bargaining agreement, if applicable, is effectively administered, and is in compliance with the current collective bargaining agreement language. </li><li>Strives continually to improve workplace safety awareness and achieves an injury-free work environment. Develops and implements a world-class safety culture. </li><li>Maintains individual knowledge/skill and experience as required to ensure optimal production acumen. </li><li>Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a Plant Manager in the warehouse. </li><li>Adheres to, explains and enforces all company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations. </li><li>Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements. </li><li>Executes a safe and injury-free environment; ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies. </li><li>Adheres to all company, customer and employee confidentiality requirements. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Working both inside and outside of the warehouse facility </li><li>Exposure to all weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, precipitation and snow </li><li>Moderate to loud noise levels </li><li>Vibration </li><li>Oils, dust, fumes and metallic particles </li><li>Day shift primarily, but will be required to work all shifts as needed </li></ul> <p>Metals USA offers competitive wages and benefits plus upward mobility towards professional growth.</p> <p>Metals USA is committed to protecting our employees by creating and maintaining a workplace free of substance abuse.</p> <p>Metals USA provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School Graduate or Equivalent required with prior steel service management experience </li><li>Bachelor Degree in Business Management preferred </li><li>Must possess a minimum of 5 years as a supervisor in a production/manufacturing environment </li><li>Should have prior experience with the metals service; preferably with carbon steel (tubing, beam and plate) </li><li>Previous experience / broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies </li><li>Ability to interface effectively with all departments to foster a success-oriented, deadline driven organization. </li><li>Ability to effectively communicate with both oral & written communication to internal & external customers. </li><li>Must have strong analytical, organizational and decision-making skills to execute and manage effectively. </li><li>Ability to demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy to both internal & external customers. </li><li>Ability to be flexible and adapt to all work flow & conditions as needed. </li><li>Ability to work in a high volume, transaction driven environment. </li><li>Must be highly motivated, results-oriented individual with the ability to lead and manage others. </li><li>Must successfully complete OSHA 30 hour safety certification training. </li><li>Must successfully complete OSHA 7505 Introduction to Accident Investigation Certification Training </li><li>Must successfully complete Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Reasonable Suspicion Training. </li><li>Computer Literacy to include Microsoft Office Products: Office, Excel and ERP. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>Occupation requires physical activity more than 80% of the time (> 6.5 hours per day)</p> <ul> <li>Stand, walk, sit, talk , hear, use of hands and fingers, hand-eye coordination reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend </li><li>Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions. </li><li>Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance </li><li>Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) </li><li>Steel-toed boots </li><li>Hard hats with chin strap; chin strap must be worn at all times while on elevated surfaces </li><li>Protective eyewear </li><li>Visual Acuity requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus </li><li>Hand protection </li><li>Arm guards/sleeves </li><li>Hearing protection if required by the hearing conservation program </li></ul>
