<p>About Winthrop House</p> <p>Winthrop House is a therapeutic, substantially separate program within Brookline High School designed to support students with social-emotional, behavioral, and learning needs. The program provides a structured, relationship-centered environment with small class sizes, individualized supports, and integrated clinical services. Winthrop House emphasizes skill-building in self-regulation, executive functioning, and academic engagement while maintaining alignment with Brookline High School's rigorous academic standards and graduation requirements.</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>Winthrop House is seeking a dynamic and flexible Science Teacher to serve students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate is collaborative, student-centered and can deliver standards-based science instruction across multiple content areas while supporting diverse learning and therapeutic needs.</p> <p>This position requires teaching four science subject areas aligned with grade-level offerings, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Current Topics in Science, within a supportive and structured classroom environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Plan and deliver differentiated, standards-aligned instruction in high school science courses including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Current Topics in Science </li><li>Adapt curriculum, instruction, and assessment to meet a wide range of academic levels and learning profiles </li><li>Create a safe, predictable, and engaging classroom environment that supports students' social-emotional and behavioral needs </li><li>Implement IEP accommodations and modifications in collaboration with special education and clinical staff </li><li>Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly </li><li>Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including related service providers, counselors, and administrators </li><li>Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs </li><li>Support students in developing executive functioning, self-regulation, and independence skills </li><li>Participate in team meetings, professional development, and program-wide initiatives </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Massachusetts teaching licensure in Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8 or 5-12) required </li><li>Certification in at least two science content areas (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, General Science) required </li><li>Demonstrated ability to teach multiple science disciplines at the high school level </li><li>Experience working with students with disabilities and/or therapeutic needs strongly preferred </li><li>Strong skills in differentiation, classroom management, and relationship-building </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a therapeutic educational setting </li><li>Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Willingness to obtain and maintain QBS/Safety-Care certification (training provided) </li></ul> <p>This is an opportunity to join a dedicated team committed to supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth within a highly supportive public school setting.</p>
