<p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Gathers meter reading data to process and prepare accurate customer bills. </li><li>Tracks and coordinates the processing of meter installations and meter replacements. </li><li>Monitors, verifies, and corrects discrepancies for Accounts Receivable; performs routine clerical and accounting work. </li><li>Responsible for processing and preparing bills; managing reading systems; posting daily cash receipt journals; also balances security deposits and generates reports for customer service totals, meter reading routine work, and meter routes. </li><li>Coordinates with the meter reading department regarding the scheduling of routes to be read, bench tests, and rereads; tracks meter installation and electronic meter replacement, and performs data entry. </li><li>Processes and ensures accuracy of customer billing; manages and prepares the meter reading system (both handheld and mobile collector), verifying reading journals, calculates and updates bills; determines unbilled accounts and adds to the billing register; prepares the bills for outsourced printing and mailing. </li><li>Addresses billing concerns with customers; adjusts accounts due to incorrect meter readings and data entry errors as directed by the supervisor. </li><li>Handles various customer mailings, including bills, notices, and other correspondence. </li><li>Generate reports for meter reading routine work, meter routes, and rereads and missed reads. </li><li>Assists Customer Service as needed with phone calls, posting service orders (turn-ons, turn-offs and transfers) for final bills. </li><li>Position reports to the Customer Services Database & Systems Supervisor for planning, scheduling and general matters. </li><li>Performs related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Billing Specialist I: Vocational/Technical Degree required with training emphasis in accounting; supplemented by one (1) to two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes accounting, customer service, and computer work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. </li><li>Billing Specialist II: Vocational/Technical Degree required with training emphasis in accounting; supplemented by three (3) to five (5) years previous experience and/or training that includes accounting, customer service, and computer work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Skilled in oral, written and electronic communication with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees, supervisors, and vendors/agencies. </li><li>Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, payroll software and Advances CIS Infinity. </li></ul> <p>SALARY RANGE</p> <p>Billing Specialist I: $47,368 - $70,542</p> <p>Billing Specialist II: $52,105 - $77,596</p> <p>Back to Open Positions</p> <p>APPLY</p>
