<p>The Instructional Coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The role of the Instructional Coach is to build teacher capacity and their understanding of instructional practices related to instructional evaluations, lesson planning, standardized testing, RTI, and data-driven instruction. An instructional coach is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. The Instructional Coach works collaboratively as a team with staff and administration. He/She will promote reflection, provide guidance and structure where needed, and focus on strengths, collaboration and common issues of concern. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, coaching, co-planning, co-teaching, and providing feedback to teachers. Another important aspect of supporting teaching and learning is the coordination of the student support team and overseeing the implementation of the response to intervention process.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Curriculum and Instruction</p> <ul> <li>Set high expectations for learning. </li><li>Work collaboratively with the leadership team in developing, improving, and evaluating curriculum, instruction, and student data management. </li><li>Collaborate and support the development of pacing guides aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence and curriculum. </li><li>Develop and manage the implementation of SLAM Atlanta's grade book protocol to ensure all teachers are entering grades and using the gradebook as an up-to-date form of communication with parents. </li><li>Support the implementation of SLAM Atlanta's lesson plan protocol. </li><li>Support the monitoring of the data analysis protocol to improve the effective use of data, and inform small group and whole class instruction. </li><li>Assist teachers in classroom organization, management, and instructional strategies. </li><li>Conduct grade and content-level data-driven instructional meetings. </li><li>Hold data-chat meetings with teachers. </li><li>Serve as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement for all students. </li><li>Support the implementation of the school's EIP model. </li></ul> <p>Teacher Development</p> <ul> <li>Implement SLAM Atlanta's coaching cycle protocol aligned to the SIP and TKES. </li><li>Conduct informal walk-throughs. </li><li>Support the Director of Curriculum and Instruction with the professional learning plan to assist teachers in gaining a better understanding of the use of data to improve instruction and increase student achievement (i.e. first Friday of the month Professional Learning Days, Pre-Planning, etc.). </li><li>Lead teachers in writing effective and engaging, standards-based plans that include rigorous and engaging instructional strategies. </li><li>Model continual improvement, demonstrate lifelong learning, and apply new learning to help all students achieve. </li></ul> <p>Student Support</p> <ul> <li>Serves as the school's Assessment Coordinator by planning, organizing, controlling, and directing the teachers and administration of the school assessment programs and procedures. </li><li>Provides and directs professional development activities designed to enable teachers and administrators to correctly administer assessments, develop quality assessments, and apply research-based assessment practices in classrooms and schools. </li><li>Oversees state school accountability functions related to the state testing programs, including communicating with schools and ensuring accurate exchange of data with the state concerning school accountability functions. </li><li>Prepares the school assessment calendar (e.g. formative and summative assessments). </li></ul> <p>Professional Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise. </li><li>Make data-driven decisions regarding curriculum and school improvement. </li><li>Stay knowledgeable of research-based teaching/learning strategies and materials. </li><li>Articulate and model the school's values to students, families, staff and the community to ensure consistency </li><li>Participate in strategic planning. </li><li>Prepare a variety of academic reports, including state-mandated reports. </li><li>Serve as a member of the district and state Comprehensive School Improvement (CSI) Team and fulfill academic responsibilities. </li><li>Engage in team building, culture and instructional visioning, goal setting, and action planning in response to student achievement, teacher effectiveness, and parent satisfaction data. </li><li>Keep up to date on laws and regulations. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood, Reading, Math or related field required. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a bachelor's degree or above from a regionally accredited college or university or an approved institution; and, </li><li>Valid Georgia teaching certificate or have reciprocity eligibility from another state or country. </li></ul>
