The Lead Radiation Therapist delivers prescribed doses of external beam and radioactive elements. This role functions as the point person for operational questions without the Chief Radiation Therapist and as a technical resource to Radiation Therapists. The Lead Radiation Therapist supports and promotes department efforts in meeting established projects and goals and/or specific individual goals and promotes the mission and values of the Organization. The Radiation Therapist works under the guidance of the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist, and Manager to deliver high-quality care and services.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Applies knowledge of radiation therapy theories, practices, and procedures to provide quality care and treatment.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and the public.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs accurate dose calculations and operates equipment proficiently.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains precise and up-to-date patient records.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and maintains department quality assurance programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Adheres to Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), state and other regulatory agencies.</p> </li><li> <p>Builds and maintains effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the public.</p> </li><li> <p>Interprets, adapts, and applies guidelines and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilizes departments within the hospital to provide timely in-services as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and maintains policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides technical and clinical support. Mentors staff through guidance and support. Maintains professional growth of staff.
