The city is moving forward on the development of several transformational projects. These include redevelopment in our Uptown commercial district, a large-scale development project Downtown, and the redevelopment of a 100-acre infill site into a Live/Work/Play Innovation Neighborhood. Complimenting development in the heart of our city are plans for more than 1,000 units of new housing throughout the City, and robust industrial growth in our Interstate 94 corridor.</p> <p>This is an exciting time to consider becoming part of the City of Kenosha's Planning and Development team. This posting will remain open until the City's needs are met.</p> <p>Example of Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Manage the administration of federally funded CDBG & Home Programs in conjunction with other staff</p> </li><li> <p>Manage infill development projects, including the Home Kenosha Attainable Housing Initiative</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the implementation of redevelopment plans and projects in conjunction with other staff</p> </li><li> <p>Manage the acquisition of blighted property in conjunction with other staff</p> </li><li> <p>Manage the marketing and selling of city-owned properties</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the creation and administration of tax increment financing district in conjunction with other staff</p> </li><li> <p>Contribute to the updating of the City's Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code in conjunction with other staff</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the utilization of GIS mapping for planning/ redevelopment purposes</p> </li></ul> <p>(NOTE: The duties listed above are intended as illustrations of the various types of work performed by persons in positions covered by this classification specification. This classification specification does not create an employment contract between the City and the employee and is subject to change by the City as the needs of the City and the department change over time.)</p> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Required Education, Training and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Real Estate, or related field </li><li>Two to four years of related work experience in the above-mentioned fields </li><li>Preference for experience in the public or private sector, including real estate development, planning, inspection, land development, construction, real estate brokerage, property management, and involvement in a multi-disciplinary team </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the laws, ordinances, and regulations related to redevelopment, CDBG, HOME, and tax increment financing districts </li><li>Knowledge of computers and job-related software applications </li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously </li><li>Ability to readand interpret a variety of legal and financial rules and regulations </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing </li><li>Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports </li><li>Ability to read and understand maps, blueprints and similar relevant documents </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Task involves frequent walking; standing; some lifting and carrying objects of moderate weight (12-20 pounds); and/or the operation of vehicles, office, shop keyboard, or hand tools in which manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination are important ingredients of safe and/or productive operations. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Task may require infrequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions </li></ul> <p>Sensory Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Task requires color perception and discrimination </li><li>Task requires sound perception and discrimination </li><li>Task requires visual perception and discrimination </li></ul> <p>Other Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Possession of a valid driver's license and a good driving record </li><li>May be required to provide a personal vehicle for use on the job </li></ul> <p>Method of Selection</p> <p>Selection of qualified applicants will be based upon a rating of their training, experience and work record. The selection process may include written and/or oral examinations. Appointment will be made in accordance with City policy and the Civil Service Ordinance and Rules and Regulations. The City reserves the right to evaluate only those applicants who best met the needs of the city.</p>
