This role involves driving a consistent approach across all EHS activities, advancing the EHS management systems, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The EHS Specialist will collaborate with the EHS Leadership Team to maintain consistency across all sites.</p> <p>Salary range: $85k - $88k (may vary based on relevant experience and education)</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to and enforce all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and PPE requirements. </li><li>Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per the standard(s) provided by corporate, customer, and/or governing bodies (ex. SQF). </li><li>Assist the Regional EHS Manager with the development of company management systems. Due to the nature of the role some cross site EHS interaction may be required. </li><li>Collaborate with the production team on yield and waste reduction initiatives. </li><li>Provide technical EHS compliance advice and guidance to managers. </li><li>Ensure effective implementation of EHS standards across the site. </li><li>Coordinate EHS and Environmental Permit activities including: </li><li>Review environmental aspects and assist with development of control measures. </li><li>Control and record EHS & Permit documentation. </li><li>Auditing schedules, conduct internal and third-party audits and follow up on corrective actions. </li><li>Environmental performance reporting for Environmental Permits. </li><li>Conduct JSA reviews in conjunction with Departments. </li><li>Provide support, assistance and guidance to Departments on: </li><li>Risk assessments, audits, and inspections. </li><li>Development of EHS procedures. </li><li>Incident investigations. </li><li>Manage </li><li>EHS training, audits, non-conformances, and PPE protocol. </li><li>Compliance reporting (Tier II, OSHA, etc.). </li><li>Manage Waste including "zero to landfill" ensuring that optimal revenue is obtained for all waste created: </li><li>Maintenance of Waste Stream Matrix. </li><li>Duty of Care records and audits. </li><li>Liaise with waste management contractors. </li><li>Equipment servicing and issues. </li><li>Maintain EHS KPI's including: </li><li>Incident statistics </li><li>Company incident management and reporting software for assigned locations </li><li>Environmental Permit Annual Returns </li><li>Environmental KPI's </li></ul> <p>Required Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Effective understanding of Manufacturing technology and process and the EHS risks associated with high-speed beverage manufacturing. </li><li>Solid knowledge of EHS systems. </li><li>Ability and commitment to drive change in a team setting. </li><li>Understanding and awareness of ISO14001 and ISO 45001 standards and the competence to coordinate effectively. </li><li>Ability to provide an education and training resource for all operators in key EHS tasks </li><li>Ability to understand the principles and processes of effective communication/presentation and when/how to apply them in all aspects of the role. </li><li>Understands the principles and processes of effective communication and how to apply them, also to understand how to give feedback in a way which enhances confidence and commitment. </li><li>Understand the principles of HS and EHS auditing and how to conduct an incident investigation. </li><li>Understand how to collect and validate sufficient information on the effectiveness of EHS systems to make recommendations on improvement. </li><li>NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety as a minimum </li><li>Formal Environmental qualification e.g. IEMA Diploma in Environmental Management </li><li>Professional and confident individual who is comfortable challenging existing ways of working and has the tenacity, seriousness and influence to make change happen. </li><li>Enthusiastic, self-managed. </li><li>Ability to prioritize workloads and demonstrate excellent time management skills </li><li>Experience of working in a busy manufacturing and engineering environment. </li><li>Bilingual in Spanish is required. </li></ul> <p>Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>OSHA Compliance - Understand and ensure adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. </li><li>Risk Assessment - Identify and evaluate potential hazards, including chemical, biological, and physical risks, to minimize workplace incidents. </li><li>Incident Investigation - Analyze near misses, accidents, and incidents to determine root cause and recommend corrective action to prevent future occurrence. </li><li>Emergency Response - Develop and coordinate emergency plans and manage crises such as evacuations and spills. </li><li>Safety Program Management - Skill in creating, implementing, and managing safety policies and programs. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>5+ years Management experience applying environmental and safety and wellness and DOT regulations and programs in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent experience preferred. Experience supporting safety in multi-site locations, including strategy and implementation. </li><li>Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred. </li><li>Safety engineering degree preferred. </li><li>ISO14001 auditor certified a plus. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Work Schedule: Weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evenings, overnight and holidays may be required. </li><li>Work Environment: Operating in a fast-paced production plant with numerous moving parts. Noise levels require hearing protection and temperatures can get very hot and/or relatively cold.
