<p>Job Description</p> <p>The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 4:00am - 1:00pm.</p> <p>The Yard Driver position will perform the following duties:</p> <ul> <li>Locates and moves full and empty trailers to and from various loading dock doors. </li><li>Couples and uncouples "yard Tractor" to and from trailers and secures trailers in the yard. </li><li>Checks with supervisor promptly at the start of the shift for days assigned schedule. </li><li>Move "Yard Tractor" to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer. </li><li>Transports loaded trailer with "Yard Tractor" or regular tractor to the proper storage location in the yard. </li><li>Performs "safety check" inspection of the trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. </li><li>Secures the trailer landing gear and uncouple the trailer with the 5th wheel pin. </li><li>Connects and disconnects brake lines as needed. </li><li>Attaches empty trailers to "Yard Tractor" and transport to the appropriate loading dock door. </li><li>Performs general housekeeping duties in work area as needed. </li><li>Secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>High School Diploma or Equivalent</p> <p>Previous Yard Jockey Experience</p> <p>6-12 months of tractor trailer experience</p> <p>Internal candidates may be promoted with less than 6 months experience with good performance record and in accordance with driver training program requirements where applicable</p> <p>Must be able to work the scheduled, assigned times and required overtime for the position.</p> <p>Valid CDL A</p> <p>Must be 21 years of age</p> <p>Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)</p> <p>Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years</p> <p>Pass pre-employment drug test</p> <p>Pass road test</p> <p>Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>1+ years commercial yard driving experience</p> <p>Foodservice distribution industry experience</p> <p>Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e. PeopleNet)</p>
