<p>THIS IS NOT A CIVIL SERVICE POSITION. ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE FORWARDED TO THE PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT</p> <p>To assist the onsite director and assistant director and supervise campers at Kenner Parks and Recreation Day Camp and Mini Camps.</p> <p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>Day Camp Director and Assistant Director, and Leisure Service Supervisor.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  </p> <p>To be able to assist in coordinating onsite activities, field trips, etc.</p> <p>To be an authority figure when director and assistant director are not available</p> <p>To be a role model for campers.</p> <p>To be the representative for the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department at day camp for the interpretation of the rules and regulations.  To be responsible to report to the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department any problems that may occur during camp.</p> <p> </p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT - HOURS WORKED:</p> <p>Will be required to work at assigned location of Day Camp.  Work hours will be determined by schedule set for day camp by the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department, Leisure Service Division.</p> <p> </p> <p>COMMUNICATION SKILLS:</p> <p>This individual must be able to read and to be able to comprehend directions from the Leisure Service Manager concerning various rules and regulations set forth by the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department, Leisure Service Division.  Must be able to act as a mediator and supervisor if a dispute occurs during camp.</p> <p> </p> <p>EQUIPMENT USED:</p> <p>All day camp equipment and supplies.</p> <p> </p> <p>PHYSICAL INVOLVEMENT: </p> <p>Standing, bending and moving constantly during camp time. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.</p> <p> </p> <p>MENTAL INVOLVEMENT:</p> <p>Must be able to communicate in English both orally and in writing.  Must be able to comprehend verbal or written direction and instructions from the Leisure Service Manager.  </p> <p> </p> <p>HUMAN RELATIONS INVOLVEMENT:   </p> <p>To be able to monitor and respond in a responsible manner in various situations and to maintain an objective attitude, tact and discretion under these conditions.Must be age 17 or older. Minimum of 2 years as a day camp counselor. Must be able to work with young adults and children.</p> <p>DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>3+ years of previous experience in group leadership of peers and/or children.</p>
