<p>Anticipated Hiring Ranges: $16.50-$21.27 hourly</p> <p>Why Do I See Two Salary Ranges?</p> <p>The City of Greeley, in compliance with Colorado state law, includes a salary range for all positions posted. This law improves wage transparency. We post both the full salary range and the anticipated hiring range, where we expect to make an offer. Offers are based on experience, education, certifications, and other factors.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Under general supervision, provides on-scene crisis intervention, advocacy, and assistance to victims, witnesses, and survivors of criminal or non-criminal incidents. Reads and interprets police reports; maintains statistical data for grant reporting; and prepares reports documenting casework. Responsible for initial and follow-up contact with victims, victims' family members, and/or witnesses; assists individuals in understanding and coping with their situations; and coordinates communication with pertinent parties such as friends, family, health care professionals, law enforcement officers, attorneys, and service providers. Makes appropriate referrals to community-based resources/services, provides emergency support services (including safety planning), and serves as a liaison between victims/witnesses and the criminal justice system.</p> <p>Note: This position is grant funded and is expected to last two or more years.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma or GED.</p> </li><li> <p>Two (2) years' experience in victim advocacy. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual in English and Spanish. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of the State of Colorado criminal justice system.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and goals of the City of Greeley and the department.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of crisis intervention.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of current community-based services/resources available to crime victims and ability to assist victims with appropriate resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in intervening in crises, assessing victims' needs, and applying appropriate resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in assisting victims in applying for restitution, victim compensation, and other financial assistance.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and other individual differences in the workforce and populations served.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to establish boundaries on the job and with the community served to include being honest, ethical, and maintaining assigned roles and responsibilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to comprehend and apply standards and guidelines of victim advocacy including the National Organization of Victim Assistance code of ethics and the Colorado State Constitution for Victims Rights.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to interpret, understand and apply applicable laws, statutes, ordinances, regulations, and policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to prepare reports documenting casework.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, data base management, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to listen well and communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to provide factual case updates to victims in an accurate and timely manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, law enforcement agencies, courts, legal representatives, and the general public.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to identify problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.</p> </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Reads and interprets police reports; prepares reports documenting casework.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains statistical data for grant reporting.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for initial and follow-up contact with victims, victim's family members and/or witnesses.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists victims in understanding and coping with their situations and contacting pertinent parties such as friends, family, health care professionals, law enforcement officers, attorneys, and service providers.</p> </li><li> <p>Makes appropriate referrals to community-based resources/services to address identified needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides emergency support services such as developing a safety plan or addressing immediate safety needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Acts as liaison between victims and witnesses, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, social service agencies, and offices of the courts; coordinates necessary meetings and may attend with victims to provide support.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides explanations of victim rights and factual updates of the investigation and criminal proceedings.</p> </li><li> <p>Researches and compiles list of community resources available to victims; develops and maintains information packets for victims.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides training and guidance to volunteer victim advocates and victim advocate interns on policies, procedures, liability, and safety issues; assists volunteers with caseloads as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Represents the City of Greeley on various boards, committees, and task forces.</p> </li><li> <p>This position will be required to do Victim Advocacy work in-line with the VOCA grant, such as responding to calls, case management and referrals to support services.</p> </li><li> <p>May be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.</p> </li><li> <p>Will be required to work on an on-call rotation.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides training and guidance to volunteer victim advocates and victim advocate interns as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Environment and Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Office environment and field work at secured crime scenes; crime scene response could come at any time, day, or night, during any time of the year; depending on the scene; this may require extending standing and being exposed to any type of weather.</p> </li><li> <p>Subject to callouts at unusual hours.</p> </li><li> <p>Deals with the public in situations involving severe physical and personal trauma.</p> </li><li> <p>Subject to marginal to moderate hazards that are typically predictable or well protected against; while this position requires responding to crime scenes, the scene is rendered safe by law enforcement.</p> </li><li> <p>Vision enough to interpret written communication and operate vehicles in normal and adverse situations.</p> </li><li> <p>Hearing and speech enough to communicate clearly and distinctly face-to-face as well as over the phone.</p> </li><li> <p>Mobility enough to respond to crime scenes under adverse weather or location conditions.</p> </li><li> <p>Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks.
