Turn away from the computer screen and face the person you are conversing with. </li><li>Explain any potential delays in service and provide frequent updates. </li><li>Empathize (feel empathy for someone) </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>• Provides telephonic clinical information to patients and/or family members under the direction of the MD or Nurse Practitioner; </li><li>Assists with patient follow up; </li><li>Performs all documentation requirements in the EHR; </li><li>Follow all health care privacy and safety rules and adheres to Dayton Physicians Core Values; </li><li>Services a proportionate number of patient calls in comparison to fellow telephone staff; </li><li>Schedules patients appropriately with the correct provider at the correct day and time; </li><li>Performs procedures directed by physician and practitioners; </li><li>Assists with preparatory activities such as taking and documenting vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height and weight, and communicates abnormalities to physician or practitioner; </li><li>Reviews and documents patient medical history including medications, allergies, and medical alerts, documents in the electronic medical record; </li><li>Collects orders and prepares lab specimens per providers' order; </li><li>Electronically submit prescriptions/refills to pharmacies as directed; </li><li>Prepares patient rooms, cleans/sterilizes instruments; </li><li>Answer patient/pharmacy calls, take messages for physicians, relay lab/test results and instructions to patients as directed, relay hospital consult information to physicians, </li><li>MU2/MIPS reporting as instructed; </li><li>Follow all health care privacy and safety rules and adheres to Dayton Physicians Core Values; </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Education and/ or Experience:</p> <ul> <li>This position requires an active RN License for the state(s) of practice. </li><li>Bachelor's degree (B.S.N.) from a four-year college or university preferred; Associate degree or diploma acceptable. </li><li>Experience with electronic medical record systems a plus. </li><li>Oncology certification to be obtained within 2 years of start of employment. Must maintain certification throughout duration of employment. </li><li>Must obtain chemotherapy/biotherapy administration certification within 6 months of obtaining employment. </li><li>Must maintain chemotherapy/biotherapy administration certification throughout duration of employment. </li><li>Collects orders and prepares lab specimens per providers' order; </li><li>Electronically submit prescriptions/refills to pharmacies as directed; </li><li>Prepares patient rooms, cleans/sterilizes instruments; </li><li>Answer patient/pharmacy calls, take messages for physicians, relay lab/test results and instructions to patients as directed, relay hospital consult information to physicians, </li><li>MU2/MIPS reporting as instructed; </li><li>Follow all health care privacy and safety rules and adheres to Dayton Physicians Core Values; </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Education and/ or Experience:</p> <p>This position requires a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.</p> <p>Current CPR certification, if not it must be obtained within 60 days of employment and kept current thereafter.</p> <p>General Skill Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent oral and written communication </li><li>Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. </li><li>Experience with a Practice Management system is preferred. </li><li>Attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position to provide excellent customer service to both our internal and external stakeholders </li></ul> <p>Physical/ Mental Demands:</p> <p>Requires the ability to hear and speak clearly. This position is normally required to sit approximately ninety (90) percent of the day with an occasional need to walk, bend, twist and carry 5-10 pounds a distance up to four (4) feet. This position requires the ability to answer telephone calls, transfer calls and work on the computer.</p>
