<p>Center School serves the students and families of the Town of Mattapoisett, a seacoast community located in southeastern, Massachusetts. Specifically, Center School serves students preschool through grade 3. This high performing elementary school has a dedicated staff supported by the community and guardians who value education, equity, and inclusion.</p> <p>The Principal of Center School is an active member of the leadership team to inspire, create, and support a safe and positive 21st century learning environment that will prepare all students for an ever-changing society. The Principal of Center School must have outstanding collaboration and communication skills, knowledge of early education and literacy, and experience in the areas of curriculum and instruction development that will enhance the teaching and learning experience.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Massachusetts Certification as Principal, grades prek-6. </li><li>Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution. </li><li>Minimum of 5 years teaching and preferred elementary administrative experience. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>The Principal of the Center School shall be directly responsible to the Superintendent of Schools for all matters relating to educational programming, operations (including, but not limited to the management of all teaching and non-teaching personnel and the management of the physical property including the grounds, equipment and building), and shall perform the following duties:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate administrative leadership and management responsibility for all aspects of school operation, including the following specific functions </li><li>Conduct all staff meetings and provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas and concerns of the staff. </li><li>Conduct meetings with guardians for the exchange of ideas and to maintain a high level of open communication with parents and the community. </li><li>Hire, evaluate and supervise all professional and support personnel. </li><li>Submit a series of goals to the Superintendent of Schools and to the School Committee to represent the educational aspirations to be achieved in the school year. </li><li>Assume responsibility for budget planning through coordination with various members of the staff, the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations, and the Superintendent of Schools. </li><li>Oversee student discipline, establish codes of behavior which shall be made known to the staff, the student body, and the school community. </li><li>Make provisions for a broad range of significant and worthwhile student activities such as programs of a cultural nature in music and the arts. </li><li>Provide leadership in relation to ensuring inclusive special education programming and regulatory implementation. </li><li>Serve at the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools when assigned responsibilities related to Center School operations. </li><li>Provide leadership for the School Council. </li></ul> <p>Desired Leadership Qualities:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as an experienced instructional leader committed to continuous school improvement. </li><li>Uses multiple sources of data to inform instructional practices and school-based decision-making. </li><li>Demonstrates a strong commitment to 21st-century learning skills and equitable outcomes for all students. </li><li>Prioritizes and supports the social-emotional well-being of students, staff, and families. </li><li>Fosters a safe, inclusive school climate that promotes multicultural understanding and global awareness. </li><li>Communicates effectively and collaboratively with all stakeholders and demonstrate strong organizational skills. </li><li>Builds and sustains a positive, productive relationships with staff, students, the school committee, and community and municipal partners. </li><li>Maintains a child-centered, achievement-oriented focus that supports high expectations for all learners. </li><li>Leads and supports a collaborative professional culture through the effective use of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). </li><li>Leverages current and emerging technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and family engagement. </li><li>Models professionalism, integrity, and shared leadership while providing a clear vision and direction for the school. </li></ul> <p>For full consideration, candidate materials should be received by March 15, 2026.</p>
