The goal of this position is to guide English Learners toward gaining proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing; and to support teachers in general education classrooms who are working toward the same objective.</p> <p>TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <p>School Year</p> <p>SALARY RANGE:</p> <p>Long Term Sub Rate (Bachelors 1 on Teacher Scale) $63,302</p> <p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>Building Principal/Asst. Superintendent</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide ESL instruction in 1:1, small group or in the general education class. </li><li>Address ESL student needs at all levels. </li><li>Utilize natural patterns of first language learning in teaching ESL. </li><li>Support classroom teachers in the use of ELD standards. </li><li>Model SEI instructional techniques within the general education classroom. </li><li>Support/instill motivation and achievement of non-English-speaking students. </li><li>Effectively teach English collectively to students with different primary languages. </li><li>Act as liaison with students, parents, teachers and administration. </li><li>Assist in administering required language proficiency and academic achievement tests (this includes all State testing), along with ongoing monitoring of student progress. </li><li>Maintain database (spreadsheet) of EL and EL- eligible students, including home school communication, test data and levels of support. </li><li>Assist in developing language acquisition support plans (EL plans) for all EL students and work with classroom teachers to implement plans. </li><li>Work with classroom teachers to support inclusionary practices. </li><li>Perform all such duties as requested by the Principal or Assistant Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, AND PERSONAL QUALITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Certification: English as a Second Language (ESL) </li></ul> <p>The information contained in this job description for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.) and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position and additional duties may be assigned.</p>
