<p>The Admissions and Academic Services Advisor recruits and provides admissions, academic, career advising and other student services to College of Professional Studies populations (prospective, new transfer, HEOP, noncredit, special, undergraduate, full-time undergraduate & Veterans) from recruiting to admissions to certification to graduation. Assists students with navigation across the University.</p> <p>This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of experience and education. </li><li>Master's degree preferred. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Good oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work with a diverse population of students. </li><li>Ability to problem-solve and liaise with the broader University community on behalf of students, in-depth knowledge of the University rules and regulations. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other technology used in student service delivery. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide academic advising to new and returning students (HEOP and non-HEOP) for College of Professional Studies (CPS). </li><li>Interpret requirements for SU schools and colleges degree programs and advise students of requirements. </li><li>Evaluate transfer credit for students and complete unofficial transfer credit evaluations for schools and colleges. </li><li>Advise and monitor students' progress toward completion of degree program through various means (in-person, phone, mail, email). </li><li>Recruit new part-time studies students (undergraduate, non-matric graduate, HEOP). </li><li>Interview prospective students and evaluate academic records to determine admissibility to SU schools and colleges and recommend alternate routes if not admissible at present time. </li><li>Coordinate, design, travel to and present information regarding part-time studies at SU at new student community college transfer fairs, career days, community organizations, community events and area employers. </li><li>Coordinate and execute College of Professional Studies (CPS) events, activities and publications - New student orientation (HEOP and non-HEOP), CPS commencement, HEOP receptions and activities, HEOP Summer Program, Student Planner, etc. </li><li>Consults with registrar, bursar, financial aid, faculty, and staff of various schools, colleges, and departments to resolve students' problems or concerns. </li><li>Interpret and apply university rules and regulations from the SU Undergraduate Catalog, Tuition, Fees, and Related Policies and Academic Rules and Regulation.
