<p>Workweek</p> <p>Up to 20 Hours | Flexible schedule based on departmental/student needs and consultant availability</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Software Development Student Consultant is a project-based role that utilizes the consultant's specialized technical skill set, which may include, but is not limited to: web and application development, database management, cloud infrastructure, and general programming. He/she/they will support specific capstone and/or other work-based learning projects within the Software Development program. This is a project-based role, limited to the duration of a certain academic semester.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Serve as an as-needed technical resource for assigned student project team </li><li>Provide information and guidance to interested students about making the transition from the classroom to the workforce and/or direct these students to additional resources </li><li>Help students understand how to collaborate with local businesses in ways that not only gain the students valuable experience but benefit the businesses and their customers </li><li>Model professional behavior and engagement with others </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution </li><li>Professional work experience in software development or another similar technical field </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associates degree from McHenry County College or a bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a comparable discipline from a regionally accredited university </li><li>1+ years of work experience in software development or other similar technical field </li></ul> <p>Skills and Specifications:</p> <ul> <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills </li><li>Ability to motivate and encourage students </li><li>Sensitivity to students whose cultural and educational experiences differ from his/her/their own </li><li>Good judgment and decision-making skills </li><li>Well-developed problem-solving and critical thinking skills </li><li>Responsiveness to questions and outreach from students </li><li>Interest in seeing students succeed </li><li>Commitment and respect for diversity, equity and inclusion </li><li>Commitment to the College's mission, vision, and goals </li></ul>
