If you're looking for a place where your contribution matters and where you can help build a better world of work; think of Gallagher.</p> <p>How you'll make an impact</p> <p>The Compliance Specialist plays a key role in guiding and supporting our client's health and welfare compliance efforts. In this position, you'll be a trusted resource for navigating regulatory requirements, offering insight, training, and education to help our team feel confident and informed. You'll also partner closely with clients to strengthen their understanding of compliance expectations and ensure they feel supported every step of the way.</p> <p>Collaboration is central to this role. You'll work with internal and external partners-including compliance teams, vendors, and industry associations-to help maintain strong alignment with all applicable laws and regulations. Your expertise will help create a culture of clarity, integrity, and shared responsibility.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Regulatory Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Monitor, interpret, and apply regulations under ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, IRS, and DOL guidelines. </li><li>Ensure benefit plans and administrative practices remain compliant with evolving legislation. </li><li>Conduct annual compliance activities such as ACA reporting, nondiscrimination testing, Form 5500 preparation, and Summary Annual Reports. </li><li>Administer and maintain required compliance notices (HIPAA, CHIPRA, WHCRA, SBCs, etc.). </li></ul> <p>Audit & Documentation</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and review required plan documents: SPDs, plan amendments, wrap documents, and required disclosures. </li><li>Maintain organized compliance records and ensure accurate document retention. </li></ul> <p>Benefits Program Support</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and external brokers/carriers to support benefits operations. </li><li>Review plan changes for compliance impact prior to implementation. </li><li>Validate vendor files, eligibility processes, and employee communications for compliance accuracy. </li></ul> <p>Policy & Process Oversight</p> <ul> <li>Develop and update compliance policies, workflows, and best practices. </li><li>Assist in developing employee communications and training materials related to benefits compliance. </li><li>Identify risks and recommend corrective actions or process improvements. </li></ul> <p>Employee & Vendor Support</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a subject matter expert for compliance questions from HR, employees, and leaders. </li><li>Support vendor management by ensuring carriers, TPAs, and brokers maintain compliance commitments. </li></ul> <p>How you'll make an impact</p> <ul> <li>Develops educational materials for staff and clients, including Compliance articles, Alerts, and presentations. Works with Managers to educate staff on compliance requirements. Works directly with clients to enhance compliance through meetings, presentations and consultation. </li><li>Develops branded educational materials in conjunction with communication team. </li><li>Interprets and summarizes guidance and alerts from credible information sources related to employee benefits and human resources. Identifies and communicates key points to staff and clients. Responds to requests for information. </li><li>Coordinates efforts with internal compliance department leaders. </li><li>Monitors the use and effectiveness of compliance tools, including those related to legal research, Wrap and POP documents, Form 5500 filings, non-discrimination testing, etc. </li><li>Familiarity with and ability to answer client questions pertaining to ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, PPACA, FMLA, etc. </li><li>Ensures that mandatory compliance initiatives are completed properly and timely. </li><li>Maintains up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations in the EB Compliance space. </li><li>Monitors compliance-related vendor relationships. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li>Travel is expected to be 10% in this role. </li></ul> <p>About You</p> <p>Required: Minimum 5 years relevant experience.</p> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>-7+ years of employee benefits or HR compliance experience required. </li><li>Strong knowledge of ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other applicable regulations. </li><li>Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.• HR Certification (PHR, SPHR) and ACA certification preferred or other HR/benefits certifications. </li><li>Experience with benefits auditing, reporting tools, or HRIS systems. </li><li>Experience working in insurance brokerage, consulting, or benefits administration (a plus). </li></ul> <p>Behaviors: Flexibility, accountability, independence, customer focus, collaboration, willingness to step outside defined role</p> <p>Compensation and benefits</p> <p>We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
