<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Sandy Hook Elementary School</p> <p>Reading/Language Arts Consultant</p> <p>May 14, 2025</p> <p>Vacancy: Grades K-4 Reading/Language Arts Consultant</p> <p>School: Sandy Hook Elementary School</p> <p>Salary: As per Contract</p> <p>Starting Date: August 2025</p> <p>Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:</p> <ul> <li>Valid CT teaching certificate for this position, 097 REQUIRED </li><li>Interest in working in a high-performing district in an elementary school environment. </li><li>Experience coaching teachers and leading professional learning. </li><li>Deep understanding of the science of reading, structured literacy, and a knowledge-based curriculum approach </li><li>Strong data analysis skills and experience using assessments to inform instruction. </li><li>Strong knowledge of the MTSS process </li><li>Lead data-driven instructional practices by leveraging assessments such as DIBELS, IABs/FIABS and i-Ready to inform instruction, intervention, and student growth. </li><li>Support the implementation of structured phonics, vocabulary development, fluency, and comprehension strategies to build strong readers and writers. </li><li>Assist teachers in using data-driven decision-making to differentiate instruction and meet the needs of diverse learners </li><li>Collaborate with teachers to identify students in need of targeted literacy interventions. </li><li>Provide direct support to students through evidence-based reading interventions. </li><li>Lead PLCs focused on literacy best practices, data analysis, and instructional improvement. </li><li>Foster collaborative discussions among teachers to enhance curriculum implementation and student learning </li><li>Provide professional development sessions on literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies. </li><li>Work closely with school and district leadership to align literacy initiatives with broader district educational goals. </li><li>Serve as a liaison between teachers, interventionists, and administrators to ensure seamless literacy support for students. </li><li>Communicate with families as needed to provide literacy resources and strategies for home support. </li><li>Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills </li><li>Commitment to promoting a positive culture </li><li>Stay informed on literacy research and share best practices with staff </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities: The Language Arts Consultant will be a part of the district and school based leadership teams, coach teachers and provide direct instruction to students in need of interventions.</p> <p>Deadline: Open until filled</p> <p>To Apply: Please apply online through the following link: https://www.applitrack.com/newtown</p> <p>The Newtown Public School District values the benefits that a diverse workforce brings to our students and community.
