We are currently searching for students or alumni interested in gaining hands-on experience at a fast-paced and innovative renewable energy company. The Innovation program ideates, evaluates, demonstrates, and deploys at-scale first-of-a-kind technologies. To that end, SB Energy operates an Innovation Center near Denver, Colorado for first-hand field demonstrations of hardware, software, and business models, such as emerging solar technologies, different types of storage, flexible compute loads, AI-based control strategies, and more.</p> <p>We're looking for a hands-on and curious engineering intern to support our Intelligent Energy Management System (IEMS) projects especially focused on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). This is a great opportunity to gain real-world experience in renewable energy, controls, and data systems, and work closely with both technical teams and leadership.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The Advanced Renewable Energy Intern will:</p> <ul> <li>Help connect and test control systems for devices like solar inverters, batteries, and computing loads. </li><li>Support setup and testing of AI-based control strategies at our Innovation Center. </li><li>Assist in creating and running test plans for control algorithms. </li><li>Gather and analyze system data to evaluate performance. </li><li>Help prepare results and recommendations for improvements. </li><li>Participate in the deployment of control systems into real commercial projects. </li><li>Support the broader Innovation team with research, technology evaluations, and small projects. </li></ul> <p>Skills And Experience</p> <ul> <li>Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (Junior, Senior, Master's/PhD students preferred). </li><li>Basic understanding of SCADA systems, data acquisition, or industrial controls is a plus. </li><li>Experience or coursework in Python, control systems, or networking is a plus. </li><li>Willingness to learn, intelligently experiment, and work both independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Strong communication skills and ability to document and present work. </li><li>Interest in renewable energy and emerging technologies. </li><li>Exposure to tools like Ignition, SEL relays, GE RX3i, or Canary Labs is helpful to have. </li><li>Familiarity with cybersecurity basics or networking for control systems is helpful to have. </li><li>Prior hands-on work in a lab, university project, or internship/co-op is helpful to have. </li></ul> <p>Location: Denver, CO (preferred) or Redwood City, CA.
