As an industry leader, we empower our teams to innovate, continuously improve, and deliver world-class solutions to our customers.</p> <p>We are seeking an experienced Controls Technician is responsible for supporting safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations through hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement of PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems. This role also focuses on diagnosing and resolving control-related downtime, performing preventative and predictive maintenance, and supporting equipment startups, modifications, and reliability improvements. Working closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, and Operations, to help contribute to continuous improvement efforts, equipment upgrades, and adherence to electrical safety and controls standards.</p> <p>Shift: Fri, Sat, Sun - 7am - 7:30pm</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <p>Controls & Electrical Maintenance Support</p> <ul> <li>Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment to support safe and reliable production operations. </li><li>Diagnose and resolve controls-related equipment downtime involving PLCs, HMIs, sensors, VFDs, servos, and safety devices. </li><li>Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities on control systems and automation equipment. </li><li>Support startup, testing, and validation of repaired or modified equipment. </li><li>Assist with minor programming changes to PLCs and HMIs under the direction of Engineering or Maintenance leadership. </li></ul> <p>Hands-On Technical Work</p> <ul> <li>Perform hands-on investigation and repair directly on manufacturing lines and equipment. </li><li>Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and control documentation. </li><li>Support installation, modification, and replacement of control panels, devices, and field wiring. </li><li>Work safely with energized equipment in accordance with company procedures and applicable electrical safety standards. </li><li>Document repairs, changes, and improvements made to control systems. </li></ul> <p>Continuous Improvement & Reliability</p> <ul> <li>Identify recurring equipment issues and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions. </li><li>Support equipment reliability improvements through automation and controls enhancements. </li><li>Collaborate with Engineering on equipment upgrades, retrofits, and automation projects. </li><li>Recommend improvements to control standards, maintenance practices, and spare parts strategies. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & Communication</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and Operations teams to support production goals. </li><li>Communicate equipment status, downtime causes, and repair actions clearly to team members and supervisors. </li><li>Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for controls-related service and support as needed. </li><li>Participate in shift handoffs, maintenance meetings, and troubleshooting discussions. </li></ul> <p>Position Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED plus an associate degree or technical certification in electronics, instrumentation, or mechatronics. A combination of hands-on experience and education can also be considered. </li><li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical or maintenance roles. </li><li>Strong understanding of manufacturing processes. </li><li>Experience with motion control systems, VFDs, and servo drives. </li><li>Advanced proficiency with computers and engineering-related software. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working with individuals at all levels of the organization. </li><li>Ability to work flexible hours as required to support production and project needs. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering, or equivalent education and experience. </li><li>Experience commissioning new equipment and supporting startup activities in a manufacturing environment. </li><li>Experience working with outside vendors, system integrators, and equipment OEMs. </li><li>Basic CAD skills are preferred but not required. </li><li>Ability to document controls standards, procedures, and best practices. </li><li>Ability to travel occasionally. </li></ul> <p>Other Job Responsibilities and Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Standing / Walking </li><li>This position requires standing and walking throughout the entire shift while working on the production floor. </li><li>Bending </li><li>Frequent bending is required to perform tasks such as applying tape to production floors, setting materials, and completing other job-related activities. </li><li>Lifting / Carrying </li><li>Must be able to lift and stack banded door panels to various heights. </li><li>Maximum individual lift limit is 45 pounds. </li><li>Must be able to safely team-lift or carry door panels weighing more than 45 pounds. </li><li>Frequency of lifting and carrying varies based on assigned tasks. </li><li>Pushing / Pulling </li><li>Regular pushing of carts is required; occasional pulling is needed for steering. </li><li>A force of up to 50 pounds is required to move a fully loaded cart. </li><li>Tasks requiring push forces above 50 pounds must be performed by two team members. </li><li>Manual Dexterity </li><li>Must be able to grip small objects (such as cutting tools) and perform repetitive hand and wrist motions to cut rubber, assemble materials, or complete other detailed tasks. </li></ul> <p>Benefits include Medical/Dental/Vision, Paid Time Off, and a 401k plan (with an automatic 3% company contribution, regardless of your contribution) among others.</p> <p>Our goal is to be a world-leading company that attracts diverse talent, where all team members feel safe being their true selves and are able to thrive in a work environment that promotes change, innovation, and provides equal access and opportunity.</p> <p>We are part of a global company, ASSA ABLOY with a diverse range of opportunities, both locally and abroad.
