As a Pilot, you will be responsible for performing various duties under limited supervision in order to provide safe and effective transportation.</p> <p>This position offers:</p> <p>$2,000 Hiring BonusSee notes for eligibility</p> <ul> <li>Culture of public service and a commitment to work/life balance </li><li>Commitment to professional and personal growth of all employees,including the opportunity fortuition reimbursement </li><li>Eligibility for Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness </li><li>The duty location is in Cheyenne, WY </li><li>Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance </li><li>State Retirement plan and additional savings opportunities </li><li>Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays </li><li>For additional information regarding the benefits package, please visit https://ai.wyo.gov/for-job-seekers/benefits </li></ul> <p>Human Resource Contact: 307-777-4455</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.</p> <ul> <li>Serves as Pilot-in-Command and Second-in-Command of single and multi-engine, turbine, jet-powered aircraft in support of transportation needs for the State of Wyoming </li><li>Flies photogrammetric equipped aircraft on designated flight tracks, and provides flight personnel support for the state photogrammetry and surveys mission </li><li>Operates aircraft in multi-air traffic environments, in complex airspaces, in varying weather conditions, in the day, and at night </li><li>Develops and flies flight profiles that meet the fuel efficiency goals of the department </li><li>Files flight plans, records flight data, coordinates passenger loading, and prepares weight/balance records </li><li>Updates flight/aircraft publications and databases, flight manuals, and software of aircraft flight management systems </li><li>Maintains fitness for flight status, availability, and readiness during wait periods and times of unassigned flights </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>PREFERENCES:</p> <p>Preference may be given to candidates with an ATP License and CE-500 type rating, 2000 hours of fixed-wing aircraft time, 1000 hours flying as a pilot-in-command, and a first-class medical certificate.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge and piloting experience to safely operate a single-engine and multi-engine turbine jet airplane in complex airspaces and varying weather conditions </li><li>Knowledge of the principles and concepts of aviation and flight operation, safety, and risk management </li><li>Knowledge of how to interact with other personnel to assist in smoothly operating the flight department </li><li>Knowledge of IFR/VFR rules and regulations and how to apply them to flight planning </li><li>Knowledge of professional aviation publications, to include Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, Air Traffic Control procedures, and state policies </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Piloting)</p> <p>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:</p> <p>Pilot's License consisting of a commercial certificate with instrument rating for airplane (single and multi-engine rating) with 2000 hours total flying time, 1000 hours fixed-wing aircraft time, 750 hours flying as pilot-in-command, 250 hours flying multi-engine airplane, 100 hours of night flying and 100 hours of actual or simulated instrument flying of which 50 hours must be in actual flight and have a first class Medical Certificate.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>Education & Experience Substitution:</p> <p>3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Piloting)</p> <p>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:</p> <p>Pilot's License consisting of a commercial certificate with instrument rating for airplane (single and multi-engine rating) with 2000 hours total flying time, 1000 hours fixed-wing aircraft time, 750 hours flying as pilot-in-command, 250 hours flying multi-engine airplane, 100 hours of night flying and 100 hours of actual or simulated instrument flying of which 50 hours must be in actual flight and have a first class Medical Certificate.</p> <p>Necessary Special Requirements</p> <p>PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>7 days a week availability. </li><li>Annual flight time 200-300 hours. </li></ul> <p>NOTES:</p> <ul> <li>FLSA: Non-exempt </li><li>The Wyoming Department of Transportation is a Drug-Free Workplace. </li><li>Qualifying eligibility and criteria for the hiring bonus </li><li>Temporary employees accepting a full-time position. </li><li>Employees accepting a promotional opportunity -
