Interested applicants must apply online by visiting the Denver Public Schools job board at careers.dpsk12.org.</p> <p>About this job:</p> <p>Plans, develops, and implements training programs for bus drivers to ensure that safe driving practices are in adherence to District and state transportation policies, rules, and regulations. This is a working position where driving a bus is required.</p> <p>What DPS Offers You:</p> <ul> <li>A Culture that values Equity, Accountability, Integrity, Collaboration and Fun with a shared vision that Every Learner Thrives. </li><li>Salary Range. $27.958 - $33.549 hourly Click here for more information on compensation for these roles. </li><li>In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as; time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Conducts bus driver training, including safe driving and safe working methods and procedures training programs </li><li>Develops, compiles, and maintains a variety of bus driver records, including license and certificate expirations, medical expirations, and required advanced training for the renewal of the bus driver certificate; monitors driver certification renewal training programs </li><li>Counsels and assists new drivers concerning student behavior management and other pupil transportation related problems and situations; assists in the selection and performance evaluation of bus drivers </li><li>Rides with bus drivers and evaluates new bus stops or changes in routes and reports observations of overhanging branches, view obstructions, and road hazards to appropriate agencies </li><li>Recommends the assignment of drivers in order to maximize the utilization of equipment and personnel </li><li>Performs dispatching functions and activities that involve student pick-up assignments, route alterations and updates, and revision of student transportation records and files </li><li>Prepares or assists in the preparation of various management reports pertaining to student transportation that may include cost analyses and projections </li><li>May conduct bus inspections with bus drivers to report damage, vandalism, malfunctions and defects </li><li>Enforces and follows appropriate local, state, and federal laws and regulations and supports a cooperative relationship with appropriate law enforcement agencies </li><li>May drive a bus over a designated route in accordance with a specified time schedule or may drive a school bus on District routes as dictated by daily absenteeism or driver shortage </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma/GED minimum </li><li>3+ years experience in transportation and special needs transportation area of a large public sector, governmental entity, or corporation or similar experience </li><li>1+ years Demonstrated experience driving and knowledge of Denver area city and street grid system </li><li>Public School Transportation Training experience preferred </li><li>Must have or acquire a valid Colorado Class A Commercial Driver's License with P2 and S endorsements and be insurable by the Colorado School District Self Insurance Pool; Must have a copy of current driving record at time of hire, clear a CBI criminal/background investigation, and comply with Drug Free/Pre-hire and random drug testing conducted throughout duration of assignment </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and other transportation systems, such as Kronos, TRIP, and STARS </li><li>Excellent employee communications, organizational, time management, and leadership skills </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively in front of large, diverse, groups both verbally and in writing </li><li>Strong attention to detail </li><li>Ability to write reports, correspond, and track programs </li><li>Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines </li><li>The ability to take responsibility for one's own performance </li><li>Ability to work harmoniously with others and a commitment to working as a team member for the benefit of the organization </li><li>Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Knowledge of regulations at Federal, State, and Local levels pertaining to pupil transportation </li><li>High degree of confidentiality </li><li>Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. </li><li>Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us. </li><li>Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position. </li></ul> <p>Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
