<p>Instructor of Welding Technology</p> <p>Full-time Faculty</p> <p>Varies between campuses</p> <p>Waubonsee Community College is committed to hiring and retaining exceptional faculty and staff who are committed to the college's culture of collaboration, professional growth and student success.</p> <p>Waubonsee Community College seeks a dynamic and innovative Welding Technology Instructor for a full-time, tenure-track position to lead and support the growth of a modern, industry-responsive welding program. The ideal candidate will have expertise in welding fundamentals, welding automation and robotics, as well as intelligent manufacturing technologies, with an emphasis on their application in construction and advanced manufacturing. This role includes strengthening welding program and career pathways, working collaboratively with district high schools and career centers, supporting adult education bridge programming, and demonstrating a strong commitment to teaching excellence, diversity, equity, and holistic student success.</p> <p>The Welding Technology Instructor will provide leadership in curriculum design, instruction, and student learning assessment for the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Welding Technology and related Certificate of Achievement programs. In addition to credit-bearing instruction, the position offers opportunities to contribute to noncredit workforce development programming aligned with community and employer needs. The selected candidate will also lead efforts for the program to become an American Welding Society (AWS) Accredited Test Facility (ATF).</p> <p>Teaching assignments may include day and evening courses delivered in face-to-face, hybrid, online, synchronous, or flex modalities. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional technology to enhance student learning.</p> <p>Provide leadership in the design, development, and continuous improvement of curriculum for the Welding Technology AAS degree and related certificate programs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and emerging technologies.</p> <p>Teach welding theory and laboratory courses including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, robotic welding, and weld design.</p> <p>Integrate automation, robotics, AI, and other intelligent manufacturing technologies into instruction and curriculum.</p> <p>Design inclusive syllabi, lessons, assignments, and assessments that support diverse learners and reflect program outcomes.</p> <p>Develop and assess program-level outcomes in alignment with American Welding Society (AWS) standards and accreditation requirements.</p> <p>Lead the initiative to establish AWS Accredited Test Facility (ATF) status and maintain compliance.</p> <p>Maintain and operate advanced welding equipment, robotic arms, and PLCs used in instruction.</p> <p>Support the incorporation of welding-specific industry-recognized credentials and certifications (e.g., AWS, FANUC, NC3).</p> <p>Build and maintain strong partnerships with key internal stakeholders, employers and industry advisory boards to ensure curriculum relevance, responsiveness, and alignment with workforce needs.</p> <p>Collaborate with secondary education partners and employers to develop and enhance stackable credentials and career pathway opportunities.</p> <p>Work collaboratively with adjunct faculty and provide guidance in curriculum delivery, assessment, and instructional quality.</p> <p>Promote lab and classroom safety in coordination with faculty and support staff.</p> <p>Participate in student recruitment, retention, academic advising, and support initiatives.</p> <p>Serve on institutional committees, participate in college-wide events, and contribute to community outreach.</p> <p>Remain current on industry trends including smart manufacturing, metal additive manufacturing, sustainable building practices, and AI-enabled quality assurance systems.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Associate degree in Welding Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, or a related field.</p> <p>A minimum of 4,000 hours of hands-on industry experience in welding or manufacturing.</p> <p>At least three (3) years of experience in welding, robotic welding, or welding engineering technology.</p> <p>AWS certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Welding Educator (CWE), or equivalent.</p> <p>Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring in an educational or industry setting.</p> <p>Familiarity with robotic welding systems (e.g., FANUC, Lincoln Electric).</p> <p>Knowledge of structural welding practices, building codes, and fabrication processes.</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with K-12 educators and industry partners.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree or higher in Welding Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.</p> <p>Post-secondary teaching experience, particularly in a community college or technical education setting.</p> <p>Experience working with diverse and traditionally underserved student populations.</p> <p>Experience using instructional technology, simulations, or multimedia in teaching.</p> <p>Familiarity with welding simulation tools, AR/VR learning technologies, and AI-driven instructional platforms.</p> <p>Experience with industry-recognized welding credentials such as those offered through the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) or equivalent.</p> <p>Prior involvement in dual credit, early college, or CTE partnerships with secondary institutions.</p> <p>Please attach the following documents when applying:</p> <p>1.)
