<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Senior Center</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>3/31/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Senior Center</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Town of Vernon Department: Senior Center</p> <p>Job Title: Part Time Assistant Program Coordinator Bargaining Unit: Non-Union</p> <p>Hourly Rate: $18.88</p> <p>Hours: 19.5</p> <p>General Statement of Duties: Under the direction of the Senior Center Director, assists with the coordination of programs and special events.</p> <p>Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the Senior Center Director or a designated supervisor who issues instructions and who reviews work for conformance to instructions.</p> <p>Supervision Exercised: Assists in the Supervision of contracted instructors for various programs. May supervise programs in absence of Senior Program Coordinator.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions: Regular and punctual attendance; flexible schedule with ability to work evenings and weekends; assists the Senior Program Coordinator in new classes, programs and special events; works with contracted instructors; assists in the supervision and support of activities; assists seniors with questions and problems; provide front office coverage as needed.</p> <p>Other Job Functions: Performs related work as required.</p> <p>Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.</p> <p>Work Environment: The work characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.</p> <p>Must be able to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption, attend to task for 45 - 60 minutes at a time, remember multiple assignments given over long periods of time and understand the theories behind several related concepts.</p> <p>May be exposed to dust, fluctuation in inside temperature and electro-magnetic radiation as a computer screen.</p> <p>The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet.</p> <p>MININUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Knowledge of issues that affects senior population; ability to assist in planning, organizing and implementing programs to address these issues; marketing skills; ability to accurately follow oral and written instructions; excellent written and oral communication skills; computer knowledge and aptitude; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees; ability to relate in a positive, courteous and cheerful manner to a senior population and the general public; must be honest, tactful and have a neat appearance.</p> <p>Experience & Training: An Associates degree in social work, gerontology or related field and one (1) year of experience working in a customer service oriented field, preferably with an older population, or any equivalent combination of education and related experience.
