<p>The Theatre Arts Department offers a variety of classes that meet graduation and transfer requirements, including courses designed to train students for careers in theatre arts. This position would teach classes in the area of technical theatre.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will share the college's commitment to educating its racially and socioeconomically diverse student population and be knowledgeable about culturally responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices for engaging diverse communities who are historically underrepresented and underserved in traditional classrooms.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <ul> <li> <p>This position requires the demonstrated ability to instruct in-person or online beginning to advanced levels of technical theatre in one or more of the following areas:</p> </li><li> <p>Stagecraft</p> </li><li> <p>Scenic and lighting design</p> </li><li> <p>Costume design</p> </li><li> <p>Stage makeup and wig design</p> </li><li> <p>Production management (including stage management)</p> </li><li> <p>Teach in-person day, evening, weekend, and/or online/hybrid classes.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform duties associated with instructing and assessing student progress including, but not limited to, developing a syllabus, grading, record-keeping student learning outcome assessments, and designing classroom activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in departmental and college functions such as staff meetings, theatrical events, committee work, curriculum development, course revisions, and course assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).</p> </li><li> <p>Any earned Bachelor's, or higher, degree from an accredited institution AND two years of professional experience that is directly related to the teaching assignment.</p> </li></ol> <p>OR</p> <p>Any earned Associate degree from an accredited institution AND six years of professional experience that is directly related to the teaching assignment.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>The equivalent.</p> <p>[The degree major(s) posted on an applicant's transcript(s) must be exactly as listed above under the degree requirements.
