<p>WIC Educator</p> <p>Employment Type: 0 - Full-time Regular</p> <p>Pay Range: $45,760.00 - 59,797.00</p> <p>Location: Castle Rock, CO</p> <p>Overtime Exempt: N</p> <p>Elected Office / Department: PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT</p> <p>Douglas County is in the process of selecting a WIC Educator.</p> <p>Performs paraprofessional, client service, and clerical work related to public health nutrition in delivering Supplemental Food and Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program services to clients.</p> <p>Generally, the hiring range is $45,760-$49,831 annually. For a more detailed overview please view the full Employee Benefit Guide.</p> <p>For information on job functions and requirements please view the job description: Click Here</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)</p> <ul> <li>Oversees and maintains a caseload of clients participating in the WIC program. Conducts client orientations on WIC procedures individually or in groups. Issues WIC checks on a one- to three-month schedule. </li><li>Schedules client appointments consistent with the issuance of WIC checks and with the appropriate amount of allotted time based on appointment type. Conducts anthropometric measurements with no supervision needed. </li><li>Sets client-centered goals and provides ongoing breastfeeding and nutrition education as specified by nutrition education checklist or as directed by the clinic Registered Dietitian. </li><li>Performs general clerical duties such as filing, typing, and answering phones in support of daily WIC functions. Maintains WIC files and records. Submits standard WIC forms and reports per state requirements and mandates. </li><li>Consults with the appropriate WIC clinic staff regarding client status, changes in status, medical problems, and related issues. Refers high-risk clients to the WIC RD/High Risk. </li><li>Makes referrals to services or outside agencies as appropriate for health care, food banks, Medicaid, and social services assistance. </li><li>Participate in WIC outreach activities and client special events. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>A minimum of one year of experience as a WIC Educator or related work experience. </li><li>Ability to meet WIC I, II and III competencies. </li><li>A combination of education and experience may be considered. </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:</p> <p>Closing Date: 07/14/2025 5:59PM MST. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.</p>
