For more information, go to: Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)</p> <p>The Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response (DCPHR) is the department's lead surveillance, planning and response arm for public events including communicable disease outbreaks and epidemics, pandemics, bioterrorism, and other public health and mass casualty events and disasters. The division includes the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response; State Public Health Laboratory; Health Equity Branch, Communicable Disease Branch; Immunization Branch; Public Health Informatics, Reporting, Technology Branch; Refugee Branch; and Operations Branch. The Division exists to ensure that the Department has the ability to effectively prepare for, monitor, detect, diagnose, investigate, and nimbly respond to all types of conditions, events and disasters that impact the public's health.</p> <p> </p> <p>The Unit: To monitor, investigate, and control epidemic and communicable diseases affecting public health in Colorado, as required under Colorado statute, including enteric diseases, invasive bacterial diseases, respiratory diseases, vaccine-preventable diseases, zoonotic diseases, foodborne and waterborne diseases, tuberculosis, and healthcare-associated infections. </p> <p>The Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Program has a mission to prevent health care-associated infections and control the spread of emerging antimicrobial-resistance threats in all health care settings in Colorado through surveillance, containment and response, infection prevention, and antimicrobial stewardship.</p> <p>About the Position: This position exists to collect, analyze, and report antimicrobial use and resistance data from healthcare providers and healthcare facilities to help set priorities for antibiotic stewardship efforts of the Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Program and to support interventions to improve antibiotic use. This position works with partners on state efforts to provide education, training, and resources for antimicrobial stewardship to healthcare providers.</p> <p> </p> <p>What you will be doing: </p> <ul> <li>Collect and analyze antimicrobial stewardship data, including data on antimicrobial stewardship core elements, antimicrobial resistance, and antimicrobial use. </li><li>Evaluate the prevalence of antibiotic stewardship core elements in healthcare settings using data from CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). </li><li>Monitor antimicrobial use as reported in CDC's Antimicrobial Resistance and Patient Safety Portal. </li><li>Analyze antimicrobial use and resistance data reported to the Antibiotic Use and Resistance Module of NHSN, and evaluate antimicrobial use data from other data sources (e.g., prevalence surveys, Medicare, or claims data). </li><li>Measure the impact of antimicrobial stewardship efforts of CDPHE. </li><li>Report and display antimicrobial stewardship data, including data on antimicrobial stewardship core elements, antimicrobial resistance, and antimicrobial use. </li><li>Create internal reports of antibiotic stewardship core elements and antimicrobial use in hospitals, nursing homes, and outpatient settings. </li><li>Create reports of antimicrobial stewardship data for partners and for posting on the CDPHE website. </li><li>Work with healthcare facilities, partner organizations, and antimicrobial stewards in the community to promote antimicrobial stewardship activities. </li><li>Work with HAI/AR Program staff to assess and record antimicrobial stewardship practices in individual healthcare facilities, and provide antimicrobial stewardship tools and education in collaboration with partner organizations, </li><li>Attend antimicrobial stewardship meetings with community partners hosted by CDPHE, and promote antimicrobial stewardship during US Antibiotic Awareness Week. </li><li>On assigned days, this position participate in the routine epi call schedule by answering email questions and telephone calls from healthcare providers, patients, and the public on a variety of communicable disease issues. </li><li>Participate in HAI/AR prevention and response activities, including outbreak investigation, as needed. </li><li>Participate in departmental emergency response/bioterrorism team (training and investigations) as assigned, and response to emergencies with the Communicable Disease Branch. </li><li>Work closely with the Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacy Lead to complete activities according to the antimicrobial stewardship strategic plan. </li><li>Work closely with the HAI Surveillance Data Analyst and the NHSN Data Unit. </li></ul> <p>An applicant may meet the minimum qualifications for this job in one of two ways: They may qualify through their work experience alone or through a combination of education and work experience.</p> <p>Experience Only:</p> <p>Six (6) years of health professional experience in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or closely-related field with proficiency in data analysis and data analysis and data analysis software, including R and R Studio.</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <p>A combination of related education in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics or closely-related field and/or health professional experience in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or closely-related field with proficiency in data analysis and data analysis software, including R and R Studio equal to Six (6) years</p> <ul> <li>This experience must be substantiated within the Work Experience section of your application. During this time, travel restrictions may be in place. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with antibiotic resistance, antibiotics, and antibiotic stewardship. </li><li>Proficiency managing large datasets from the National Healthcare Safety Network, public health surveillance data, and administrative datasets such as Medicare data. </li><li>Proficiency with statistical coding using R and R Studio. </li><li>Experience with best practices of data display. </li><li>Experience supporting team projects through data collection and analysis. </li><li>Experience presenting and reporting data to stakeholders. </li><li>Experience collaborating on projects with partners external to the organization. </li></ul> <p>Appeal Rights:</p> <p>An applicant who has been removed from an employment list or removed from consideration during the selection process may request a review by the State Personnel Director.</p> <p>As an applicant directly affected by the results of the selection or comparative analysis process, you may file a written appeal with the State Personnel Director.</p> <p>Review of the completed, signed and submitted appeal will be timely on the basis of written material submitted by you, using the official appeal form signed by you or your representative.
