<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Pomfret Community School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Science Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an engaging, dynamic learning environment where students can develop a strong foundation in scientific principles. The teacher will design and implement lessons in accordance with state standards, foster a love for science, and help students build critical thinking and problem-solving skills.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement engaging science lessons for middle school students in grades 7 & 8 </li><li>Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student learning and collaboration. </li><li>Assess and monitor student progress through regular assignments, quizzes, projects, and tests. </li><li>Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. </li><li>Prepare and implement classroom activities that encourage scientific inquiry and hands-on learning. </li><li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including grades and attendance. </li><li>Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Bachelor's degree in Science or related field. </li><li>Certifications: Current Connecticut Teacher Certification in Science Grades 7-12 </li><li>Experience: Previous teaching experience in middle school science is preferred but not required. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to pass a background check </li><li>Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying academic abilities. </li><li>Passion for teaching and helping students succeed academically and personally. </li></ul> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, three reference letters and a copy of their Connecticut Teaching Certification to: Susan Imschweiler imschweiler.s@pomfretcommunityschool.org</p> <p>Pomfret Community School is an equal opportunity employer.</p>
