No phone calls, please.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:</p> <p>The ESL Tutor/Collaborator plays a key role in advancing student success through individualized tutoring, collaborative academic support, and the coordination of Writing Center services. This in-person position is responsible for mentoring peer tutors, managing student outreach and engagement, and developing instructional resources to enhance writing skills across diverse student populations.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Tutor students individually and in small groups in reading, writing, or related subjects. </li><li>Create client reports for each appointment. </li><li>Track Perkins and non-Perkins related appointments. </li><li>Provide support to instructors on best practices for helping English Language Learners (ELLs). </li><li>Conduct workshops for Writing Center staff and faculty on effective strategies for supporting ELLs. </li><li>Offer in-classroom support and lead workshops. </li><li>Develop resources to assist students, tutors, and faculty. </li><li>Utilize Starfish, WCOnline, Teams, and other platforms to fulfill duties. </li><li>*This is an in-person position based in the Writing Center. </li></ul> <p>KEY COMPETANCIES:</p> <ul> <li>Strong interpersonal skills. </li><li>Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Ability to relate with understanding, sensitivity and empathy. </li><li>Good organizational skills. </li><li>Proficient computer skills. </li><li>Ability to prioritize and multitask responsibilities. </li><li>Commitment to fulfillment of the College mission. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION:</p> <ul> <li>Baccalaureate Degree required in at least one of the following areas: English, Writing or a related field. </li><li>Degree or certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), ESL (English as a Second Language), or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Previous tutoring or teaching experience preferred in an ESL or EFL context is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Applications will only be accepted via online method by clicking the link below.
