<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Greenwich Public Schools seeks a business education teacher.</p> <p>Position Purpose:</p> <p>To provide an instructional program that will develop students' skills for the 21st Century global economy. Some of the skill sets that will be developed are global awareness, collaboration, oral and written communications, critical thinking and problem solving, and a well-defined work ethic as a self-directed contributor.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement business education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives </li><li>Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning </li><li>Teach knowledge and skills in accounting, entrepreneurship, investments, marketing, and personal finance to secondary students </li><li>Provide instruction on the development of skills in the use of office equipment and technology </li><li>Instruct students in the use, care, and safe operation of business equipment </li><li>Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including those of students with special needs </li><li>Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships with members of the business community </li><li>Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws </li><li>Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents </li><li>Coordinate with other professional staff members and participate in faculty meetings and committees </li><li>Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment and maintain inventory records </li><li>Review and implement modifications, accommodations, and intervention plans for all students, both general education and special education </li><li>Lead online, hybrid, and face-to-face Financial Literacy graduation requirement for Greenwich High School </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles </li><li>Knowledge of GPS business education curriculum and the National Standards for business education </li><li>Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students </li><li>Ability to organize and coordinate work </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents </li><li>Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work </li><li>Ability to provide students with opportunities to develop strong oral and written business communication skills </li></ul> <p>Equipment:</p> <ul> <li>Use of district-issued digital tools </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Profile</p> <ul> <li>CT State Certification as a Business, Grades 7-12, teacher (#010) required </li></ul> <p>Please apply via the Greenwich Public Schools Human Resources Frontline site, Job 2884.</p>
