Our service area covers 64 counties and more than 500 communities including the greater St. Louis area</p> <p>Location: Labadie, MO (Franklin County) - near Washington and Gray Summit</p> <p>Facility: Labadie Energy Center</p> <p>About the Facility</p> <p>This role is based at Labadie Energy Center, one of Missouri's largest power generation facilities-producing approximately 2,390 MW of electricity across four high-capacity steam turbine units. Inside, you'll find expansive turbine halls with soaring ceilings, advanced steam systems, and dedicated maintenance shops designed for heavy industrial equipment, along with secure control centers-creating a dynamic environment for repair and technical work.</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>Under direct, indirect, or intermittent supervision, and working a rotating shift schedule or day schedule as required, you will install, repair, overhaul, and maintain a general range of power plant electrical systems and equipment. You may have immediate responsibility at times for the working direction of an apprentice.</p> <p>Key Duties</p> <ul> <li>Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of electrical equipment including: </li></ul> <p>Generators, voltage regulator rheostats, exciters, buses & bus duct, transformers, circuit breakers, switches, power circuits, magnetic contactors, motors & motor starters, precipitators, batteries, plant lighting, conduit, wiring, boxes, supports, and hangers.</p> <ul> <li>Work from schematics, drawings, and sketches. </li><li>Execute Workman's Protection Assurance (WPA) and related procedures to ensure proper isolation and protection of equipment prior to work. </li><li>On energized equipment, ensure safety devices are in place and understood before work starts. </li><li>Obtain materials from storeroom; set up rigging and operate lifting equipment. </li><li>Erect and work from scaffolds. </li><li>Operate/use mobile equipment, shop equipment, portable power tools, hand tools, and test equipment. </li><li>Operate acetylene or other cutting/heating torches; check for explosive gases before use when necessary. </li><li>Prepare reports of work performed (including sketches if needed) and complete forms as required. </li><li>Work alone or in combination with Electrical Repairman or Repairman (Mechanic) classifications as assigned. </li><li>Perform similar and less skilled work as required. </li></ul> <p>Safety & Accountability (Special Responsibilities)</p> <ul> <li>Carry out prescribed safety precautions and safeguards for personal and team protection. </li><li>Ensure safety of others when working on energized circuits; enforce safety instructions for anyone temporarily under your direction. </li><li>Perform work without disturbing other equipment; execute orders quickly and properly. </li><li>Maintain accuracy within required tolerances/specifications and exercise special care to avoid errors in repair/assembly. </li><li>Use tools, materials, and equipment properly; dispose of surplus/scrap materials appropriately. </li><li>Keep work areas clean and orderly to promote good work practices and safety. </li></ul> <p>Cross-Functional Contacts</p> <p>Work collaboratively with Dispatchers, Meter & Relay personnel, Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Storeroom supervision and personnel.</p> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Full range of temperatures from very hot to sub-freezing; sudden changes may occur. </li><li>Exposure to noise, dust, dirt, fumes, odors, drafts, and inclement weather. </li><li>Work in cramped and artificial light conditions is frequently necessary. </li></ul> <p>Hazards</p> <ul> <li>Possible electrical shocks, burns, or flashes when working on/near energized equipment. </li><li>Hazards from possible failure of nearby equipment; danger from falls when working at elevation. </li><li>Usual hazards encountered in electrical construction/maintenance; occasional exposure to noxious fumes in confined spaces. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED </li></ul> <p>AND either:</p> <ul> <li>Completion of a 2-year technical college program and 3 years working as an industrial electrician, OR </li><li>Completion of a certified apprentice program and 3 years working as an industrial electrician, OR </li><li>Ten (10) years working as an industrial electrician. </li><li>Must be able to climb ramps, ladders, and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include candidate testing and/or an individual aptitude or skill-based assessment.
