Built with input from frontline staff, the Tower is a state-of-the-art, specialty-focused expansion that enhances how care is delivered and how teams work together. From larger rooms and leading-edge technology to a culture of collaboration and growth, this space was designed by Beacon for Beacon.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <p>As a Radiologic Tech, you will operate basic radiologic equipment determining the quality and quantity of ionizing radiation to make quality radiographs on injured and/or sick patients as directed by physicians following accepted policies and procedures under the direction of radiologists.</p> <p>Radiologic Tech Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Perform Procedures and Examinations:</p> <ul> <li>Applying proper immobilization devices. </li><li>Assisting the radiologist during fluoroscopic procedures. </li><li>Preparing special contrast media solutions (barium, non-ionic contrast material) to be used in fluoroscopic procedures. </li><li>Operating c-arm fluoroscopy for intra-operative cases. </li><li>Performs radiology procedures and examinations according to physicians orders and department policies and procedures. </li><li>Evaluates radiographs for technical quality to ensure accurate diagnosis. </li><li>Exhibits skilled positioning techniques when needed in unusual situations, such as trauma, surgical or immobile patients to ensure the most diagnostic images possible. </li><li>Recognizes appropriate Index Exposure factors, such as S & L #'s and understands how to obtain the best image while minimizing exposure. </li><li>Uses primary and secondary markers to properly mark images. </li></ul> <p>Equipment Operation/Image Management/Record Keeping:</p> <ul> <li>Recognizes problems and troubleshoots equipment. </li><li>Communicates to proper person for needed repairs to ensure correct operation. </li><li>Provides sufficient patient history to the Radiologist to aid in the diagnosis and documents in the appropriate manner. </li><li>Checks patient exam charges to ensure correct patient charging (credit, cancel, revise, add, etc.). </li><li>Ensuring images sent to PACS are appropriately identified and marked. Marking cases reviewed on PACS for Radiologists dictation. </li><li>Notifies appropriate person when corrections on PACS need to be made with images/files. </li><li>Utilizes email appropriately to receive communication and to communicate to others. </li><li>Instructing students in clinical education. </li></ul> <p>Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the department:</p> <ul> <li>Completes other job-related duties and projects as assigned by Coordinator/Manager. </li></ul> <p>ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Associates comply with the following organizational requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared. </li><li>Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department-specific education within established timeframes. </li><li>Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes. </li><li>Maintains license/certification, and registration in good standing throughout fiscal year. </li><li>Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department. </li><li>Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self. </li><li>Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance. </li><li>Complies with established organization and department policies. </li><li>Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required. </li></ul> <p>Commitment to Beacon's six-point Operating System, referred to as The Beacon Way:</p> <ul> <li>Leverage innovation everywhere. </li><li>Cultivate human talent. </li><li>Embrace performance improvement. </li><li>Build greatness through accountability. </li><li>Use information to improve and advance. </li><li>Communicate clearly and continuously. </li></ul> <p>What You Bring</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <p>The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through graduation from an approved school of radiology technology with subsequent registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and certification by the State Board of Health.</p> <p>Knowledge & Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Requires knowledge of radiation emitting units. </li><li>Demonstrates skills to position patients properly for all examinations. </li><li>Demonstrates analytical skills needed to make judgments regarding quality of radiographs. </li><li>Demonstrates well-developed communication skills to understand written and verbal instructions. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Hospital environment with hazards due to radiation. </li><li>Wears lead protective aprons and gloves during certain procedures; must wear film badge and maintain strictly controlled standards. </li><li>Must be able to take call and arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes of being called in. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e., to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, to position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, over 35 pounds requires assistance, provide CPR, etc.) to perform the essential job functions of the position.</p> <p>The Beacon Way</p> <p>At Beacon Health System, our approach to care goes beyond clinical excellence because it's built on meaningful connections.
