And we're just getting started!</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The Associate General Counsel, Litigation will serve as a trusted advisor and business partner to the company, with a particular focus on analyzing potential claims, advising the business on effectively resolving disputes, negotiating on behalf of the business (conflict resolution, contracts, and real estate matters as needed), and managing litigation and outside counsel. The Associate GC will work with a variety of business units impacting important business decisions while carrying out the legal department's mission to contribute to Planet Fitness' success by I) providing clear, timely, thoughtful, professional and practical legal advice; II) recommending and implementing appropriate policies, practices and procedures to mitigate risk and control costs; III) being effective leaders with a focus on strategy, efficiency and collaboration; and IV) contributing to Planet Fitness' fun, inclusive and Judgement-Free culture.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist with litigation management, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Contribute to overall litigation strategy</p> </li><li> <p>Day-to-day management of pending litigation and investigations, including discovery, case preparation, tracking and communication of case-related dates and information, and the review and preparation of documents, reports, and correspondence</p> </li><li> <p>Manage relationships with outside counsel</p> </li><li> <p>Direct court proceedings on some matters, including preparation for and attendance at arbitrations, mediations, and depositions</p> </li><li> <p>Advise executives and senior management on litigating claims and defenses as well as avoiding and effectively resolving disputes.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with real estate matters.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with negotiation and drafting of vendor, service, and other commercial agreements.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with business units to identify, investigate, and mitigate risk and respond to business challenges and opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct legal research, provide advice, and present recommendations on various legal and business issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Draft, review, and update company policies and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Stay up-to-date and advise stakeholders on relevant industry standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Stay abreast of current and pending changes in law potentially impacting the business.</p> </li><li> <p>Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate and negotiate with external parties (outside counsel, vendors, franchisee counsel, etc.), creating professional relations of trust.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend and provide legal advice at cross departmental meetings.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree and Law degree from accredited institutions, required </li><li>Admission to the bar in one or more states </li><li>5-8 years of relevant legal experience, including law firm experience </li><li>Litigation experience, required </li><li>Experience advising on commercial contracts, preferred </li><li>Ambition to increase legal and business knowledge and skills in areas relevant to the business </li><li>Excellent project management skills </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional business judgment, including the ability to think strategically and give practical advice while balancing business needs with legal risks </li><li>Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives </li><li>Exceptional presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including executives and Board of Directors </li><li>Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally </li><li>Creative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization </li><li>Excellent leadership skills including the ability to build teams, motivate, guide, and mentor </li><li>Possess a results-driven entrepreneurial mindset, demonstrating initiative and creativity </li><li>Demonstrated strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and organizational leadership skills </li><li>Exhibits comfort, ease, and flexibility working in an extremely fast-paced ever-changing, deadline-driven environment </li><li>Cooperative team player with an upbeat, positive, "can-do" attitude!
