At times, conflicts will arise between long-term and short-term goals and compromises will need to be structured. Lead Cloud Architect will collect background information to factor into compromise options for discussion and be responsible for helping the Cloud Engineering team retain institutional memory of the details of those decisions. The Lead Cloud Architect supports the Enterprise Architecture team by gathering requirements and collaborating on design solutions to keep alignment with key strategic principles of company architecture.</p> <p>This role is committed to the support and development of multi-region cloud roadmaps and plans, assuring that cloud services and platforms meet business and technical requirements while aligning with long-term architectural and strategic goals.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <p>Include but are not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Planning, designing and documenting highly available, scalable resilient cloud services and platforms with guidance from senior members of the team. </li><li>Collaborate on cost optimization and right sizing efforts for cloud services and platforms. </li><li>Document governance standards for cloud infrastructure. </li><li>Collaborate on cloud infrastructure and platform operability design to improve reliability. </li><li>Develop consensus by articulating design principles and evangelizing DevOps practices and continuous integration. </li><li>Align solutions for security and access with the Information Security team. </li><li>Promote observability through standards for collecting metrics and logs. </li><li>Engage with interdisciplinary architects and engineering leads on architectural design and review sessions. Implement an effective, value driven processes to deliver innovative solutions that meet business requirements. </li><li>Support project teams through detailed system analysis, requirements gathering, solution design and project execution for cloud services and platforms. </li><li>Author and update high-quality documentation of all relevant specifications, systems and procedures. </li><li>Research and select cloud services for improving service delivery and expanding capabilities. </li><li>Lead engineering efforts to align technologies and capabilities to prepare for future demand and business opportunities. </li><li>Mentor engineering team members. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li>Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork. </li><li>Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures. </li><li>Regular and reliable attendance. </li><li>Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day. </li><li>Ability and means to travel between Madison locations. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in computer sciences or related field; or Associates Degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or high school degree/general education diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. </li><li>3+ years of experience working within an architecture practice and developing architecture artifacts; or 5+ years of advanced systems engineering and a proven track record of success designing and operating highly available, scalable and recoverable systems. </li><li>8+ years of experience working with any combination of the following; observability (metrics and logs collection and analysis), service level objectives (SLO), configuration management, infrastructure as code and continuous integration. </li><li>8+ years of experience working with software engineering and/or operations teams. </li><li>8+ years of experience debugging distributed system errors and performance problems. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with AWS Cloud Solutions architecture </li><li>Experience with infrastructure software engineering and continuous integration. </li><li>Experience implementing and operating container orchestration platforms. </li><li>Experience in healthcare industry, such as pharma or labs. </li></ul> <p>#LI-JL2</p> <p>Salary Range:</p> <p>$121,000.00 - $206,000.00</p> <p>The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis.
