Our diverse student body hails from Wayland and Boston and is composed of 32% students of color and 68% white students, with 15% of our students having a first language other than English. Join us in our mission to support the diversity of our school community; implement equitable practices for all of our students, staff, and families; create meaningful connections that foster a sense of belonging; and provide an outstanding educational experience for students, staff, and families.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Wayland High School is seeking a special education teacher with: superior knowledge in the field, effective pedagogical skills, excellent communication skills, an enthusiasm for learning, and the desire to maximize the learning potential of all children. The special education teacher will provide services via direct instruction in executive funcation and social skills. Students requiring intervention and support have mild to moderate needs within the autism spectrum.</p> <p>Key Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Plan effective specialized instruction and intervention for students on IEPs within and outside the general education classroom; </li><li>Interpret formal diagnostic assessments and tests for students initially referred and for three-year reevaluations of caseload students; </li><li>Administer ongoing progress monitoring, strategic monitoring and benchmark systems; </li><li>Schedule, prepare for, and chair Team meetings for caseload students; </li><li>Write comprehensive progress reports and IEPs; </li><li>Collaborate with general education and related service staff with respect to appropriate services, accommodations and modifications; </li><li>Provide ongoing communication with parents; </li><li>Collect and analyze student data against IEP goals; </li><li>Supervise and plan for educational assistants to support students throughout the day. </li></ul> <p>The responsibilities and duties listed are illustrations of the various types of work performed. The information contained in this job description is for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.) and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position.</p> <p>Job Requirements</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree preferred; </li><li>Must have a Massachusetts licensure in Moderate Special Needs through the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education; </li><li>Must have demonstrated success with and be knowledgeable about current research-based interventions for students with disabilities; </li><li>Must possess demonstrated ability to develop positive behavior intervention plans; </li><li>Experience working with students on the autism spectrum preferred; </li><li>Experience/training in language-based instruction/dyslexia including certification in Wilson, O-G, Brain Frames, EmPOWER Writing, etc. highly desirable; </li><li>Experience in teaching executive function skills; </li><li>Experience with the administration and interpretation of a wide range of formal and informal diagnostic assessment and evaluation tools; </li><li>Excellent writing and communication skills required; </li><li>Experience with diverse populations and commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism. </li></ul> <p>Terms of employment:</p> <ul> <li>In accordance with the Agreement Between the Wayland School Committee and the Wayland Teachers' Association, Inc. </li><li>Citizenship, residency or work visa required </li><li>Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (C.O.R.I.), Sexual Offender Record Check (S.O.R.I.), and fingerprints </li><li>Position is full-time from April 28, 2025 until June 20, 2025. </li></ul>
