The successful candidate will have a strong clinical background with a passion for patient care and a commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements in genetic medicine.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Genetic Counselor will provide comprehensive genetic counseling services to individuals and families with a focus on pediatric general genetics (inpatient and outpatient), but with potential opportunities for specialization in a variety of areas, including metabolic genetics, cardiogenomics, cancer genetics, and prenatal genetics.</p> <p>Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Obtaining and interpreting detailed family and medical histories. </li><li>Assessing and communicating risks for genetic conditions. </li><li>Ordering and interpreting genetic tests. </li><li>Providing psychosocial support and counseling to patients and families. </li><li>Educating patients and healthcare providers about genetic conditions, testing options, and management strategies. </li><li>Participating in multidisciplinary clinics and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. </li><li>Contributing to the development and implementation of genetic counseling programs and protocols. </li><li>Staying up-to-date on the latest advancements in genetic testing and research. </li><li>Acts as preceptor to the graduate students interning in the Medical Genetics Program. </li><li>Performs related duties as required.
