<p>Job Number:</p> <p>YPSN0350367-0000</p> <p>Start Date:</p> <p>2025-08-01T00:00:00</p> <p>End Date:</p> <p>2025-07-15T00:00:00</p> <p>Description:</p> <p>ATTENTION:All Interested Candidates Certified in School District Administration(Must possess NYS SDA/SDL certification; content-area certification is preferred)Job Description:Position Summary: The Executive Director of Science and Instructional Technology will lead the implementation of the Yonkers Public Schools instructional program in the Science content area to ensure the continuous growth of teaching and learning, contributing to equity, capacity, and student achievement. The Executive Director will ensure that the instructional program is standards-aligned, data-informed, and reflective of the NYS Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education Framework, the District's science curriculum and instruction address the needs of multilingual learners and students with disabilities, while strategically embedding a multi- tiered system of supports. The position requires close collaboration with the senior and executive cabinet members in order to assist in aligning professional learning needs to the outcomes of the District Professional Development Plan, District Comprehensive Improvement Plan (DCIP), as well as the 5-Year Strategic Plan. The Executive Director will serve as a member of a school support system and Professional Learning Community (PLC), providing supervision and coaching to principals.Description of position includes, but is not limited to:Facilitate and supervise the implementation of the NYSED K12 Next Generation Learning Standards forScience, as well as District-designed curricula to develop curriculum and support learning.Lead the development of a vertically-aligned Science curriculum that is standards-based and prepares all students for college and career; assess and refine curriculum annually.Plan, support, and facilitate professional learning and in-service experiences that support teaching and learning to meet the goals of the District's Professional Development Plan, as well as the Superintendent's Goals across all instructional domains and specific to Science, STEAM and/or technology programs.Maintain a data-informed systems approach to decision-making regarding science curriculum, instruction, and assessment, including a systemic record of classroom observations of mathematics classes in order to determine needs for professional learning.Interview and assist with the selection of Science teachers and teaching assistants.Supervise, support, and evaluate Science teaching staff throughout the District.Train all relevant staff on Science platforms such as HMH into Science and BioZoneCoordinate regularly scheduled department representative/grade level meetings and workshops.Coordinate Science contests, district-wide academic competitions, and any other science-related projects.Assist with Science NYS 5 & 8 testing, Regents, AP & IB Testing, and any additional district-wide assessments.Work with all grant administrators/facilitators on tasks related to the preparation of grant proposals, grant implementation activities, evaluations, and alignment with the District's goals.Strengthen relationship with families, the community, and students. Communicate through appropriate venues (i.e., parent trainings/workshops, newsletter, District's website and social media, etc.), the District's mathematics endeavors and vision, as well as about student learning and technological practices.Maintain awareness and disseminate information of best practices and new potentials in Science.Develop and maintain an online repository of resources to provide information on current best practices, innovations, and emerging trends for staff and students (e.g. tutorials, interactive programs, websites) to promote sharing of resources.Serve as liaison to NYSED Office of Standards and Instruction for Science.Participate in local, state, and national professional networks, as well as conferences, to contribute to and benefit from advancements and trends in the field of education.Manage the department's budget and appropriately maintain records and communication with the Associate Superintendent of Inter-Governmental Relations, Professional Learning, and Accountability.Collaborate with the District's Professional-Development team, including meetings, communications, etc.Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and the Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.Qualifications:Expertise in facilitating professional learning opportunities.Experience leading continuous learning processes with educators.Prior school leadership experience in an urban PK-8 or HS school setting, with demonstrated success in effective leadership and strategic implementation of accelerated academic growth.Experience in guiding other school professionals to improve achievement.Experience in supporting student achievement through strategic planning and implementation of system- wide initiatives that address instructional, administrative, or programmatic means.Experience working on a collaborative team and understanding of cross-functional roles.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form and develop professional relationships, distill ideas from a diverse group, and develop consensus from stakeholders.Exceptional communication and facilitation skills.Working knowledge of public-school systems, structures, and schools.Understanding of systems thinking, organizational behavior, and adult learning.Creative problem solver with the ability to perform independent, thoughtful analysis around important educational issues.Knowledge of collaborative inquiry theory and process.Knowledge of State and Federal requirements for school improvement and accountability.Ability to manage and prioritize many projects at once.At least five years of teaching experience in Science.New York State Administrative Certification (SDA or SDL).Ability to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends.
