<p>General Function</p> <p>Central Piedmont Community College emphasizes excellence in classroom instruction. Faculty are responsible for developing IT-focused lesson plans, creating assessments, providing feedback, and incorporating industry tools for hands-on learning while maintaining an engaging and well-managed environment both in person and online. They also contribute to curriculum development, stay current with IT trends through professional development, mentor students, adhere to college policies, collaborate with colleagues, and ensure commitment to their teaching schedule.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Course Preparation and Delivery: Develop lesson plans that align with the curriculum, focusing on both theoretical and practical IT skills, ensuring students are well-prepared for the workforce. </li><li>Student Assessment and Support: Develop assessments and projects to gauge IT concept understanding and offer constructive feedback. Provide mentorship and guidance through email and other channels to help students achieve their career goals. </li><li>Classroom Management: Establish a supportive learning environment, encouraging participation and managing any classroom or online disruptions effectively. </li><li>Curriculum Development: Assist in the creation or revision of course content to reflect current IT trends and employer needs, ensuring course relevance. </li><li>Professional Development: Continuously update knowledge to keep course material current with the evolving IT industry, utilizing college resources for effective teaching and completing all required training on time </li><li>Compliance and Documentation: Adheres to the specific policies and requirements of the College and other pertinent agencies. Keep accurate and detailed records of student performance, including grades, and attendance, and report them as required by the College. </li><li>Collaboration: Engage with fellow faculty and department staff in meetings and initiatives, sharing best practices and contributing to departmental improvements. </li><li>Commitment to Teaching Schedule: Honor the teaching schedule and communicate any conflicts or changes in advance to minimize course disruptions. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Information Technology, Business, or a closely related field. </li><li>Minimum of 3 years of professional experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project, JIRA, Asana, Trello, or Smartsheet. </li><li>Experience facilitating instruction or training in a classroom, corporate, or virtual environment. </li><li>Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical and process-driven concepts. </li><li>Proficiency with at least one Learning Management System (LMS) such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle. </li><li>Availability to teach during evenings, weekends, or online, as scheduled. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or other recognized project management certification. </li><li>Experience teaching or training adult learners, especially in a continuing education, workforce development, or community college setting. </li><li>Experience designing or developing curriculum or training materials related to project management tools and practices. </li><li>Professional background that combines both industry experience and instructional delivery, demonstrating real-world relevance in teaching. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Working Days: Monday - Friday</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency with modern project management tools and methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall, with the ability to translate industry practices into effective instruction. </li><li>Strong instructional and engagement skills, including the ability to adapt lessons in real time, respond to student challenges, and tailor teaching to varied learning styles and skill levels. </li><li>Excellent organizational and self-management skills, including the ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision. </li><li>Commitment to student success and meaningful impact, demonstrated through a personal drive to support learners' growth and career advancement. </li><li>Cultural competence and inclusivity, with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and a focus on creating a respectful, welcoming learning environment. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Typical classroom or training environment; sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, grasping, and repetitive keyboarding motions; vocal communications is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive informationatnormalspokenwordlevels;visualacuityisrequiredforpreparingandanalyzingwrittenor computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; no adverse environmental conditions; infrequently traveling between buildings on campus, to other campuses, or locally.</p>
