Join the team shaping the future of the amenity experience.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Skating Instructor is responsible for teaching ice skating skills to individuals or groups of all ages and skill levels, in a safe, engaging, and encouraging environment. This role delivers structured instruction in accordance with established curriculum guidelines and provides skill development, feedback, and motivation to skaters.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Instruction & Coaching</p> <ul> <li>Plan and conduct ice skating lessons for beginners through advanced levels, including figure skating or hockey fundamentals. </li><li>Provide individualized attention, demonstrations, and hands-on guidance during lessons. </li><li>Adapt instruction techniques based on the age, ability, and learning style of participants. </li><li>Offer encouragement and skill progression recommendations to help students reach their goals. </li></ul> <p>Safety & Supervision</p> <ul> <li>Monitor on-ice safety and ensure all skaters follow rink rules and guidelines. </li><li>Perform warm-ups and cool-downs and instruct proper technique to prevent injuries. </li><li>Assist with first aid and emergency procedures when needed. </li></ul> <p>Program Support</p> <ul> <li>Assist with program registration, skill assessments, and progress reports. </li><li>Participate in seasonal shows, events, and exhibitions as needed. </li><li>Maintain accurate attendance and lesson records. </li></ul> <p>Facility & Equipment Use</p> <ul> <li>Ensure skaters are properly equipped with fitted skates and safety gear. </li><li>Report unsafe conditions or equipment issues to management. </li><li>Help maintain a clean and orderly rink environment before, during, and after sessions. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li>Prior skating experience required; professional or competitive background in figure skating or hockey preferred. </li><li>Previous teaching or coaching experience strongly preferred. </li><li>U.S. Figure Skating, Learn to Skate USA, PSA, or USA Hockey instructor certification preferred. </li><li>CPR/First Aid certification required or obtainable within 30 days of hire. </li></ul> <p>Skills & Traits</p> <ul> <li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic teaching style. </li><li>Ability to manage group dynamics and keep participants engaged. </li><li>Reliable, professional, and team-oriented. </li></ul> <p>Essential Function</p> <p>Seldom</p> <p>Occasionally</p> <p>Frequently</p> <p>Stationary Position -- Sitting or Standing</p> <p>X</p> <p>Active Position -- Walking, jogging, running</p> <p>X</p> <p>Use of hands/fingers -- Operate, Use, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position, Prepare, activate</p> <p>X</p> <p>Climb/Balance -- Stairs, ladders, ropes, equipment, beams</p> <p>X</p> <p>Stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl -- Position self, move</p> <p>X</p> <p>Talk/hear -- communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information</p> <p>X</p> <p>See -- Detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess</p> <p>X</p> <p>Carry weight, lift -- Move, transport, position, put, install, remove -- 50 lbs or less</p> <p>X</p> <p>Carry weight, lift -- Move, transport, position, put, install, remove -- 50 lbs or more</p> <p>X</p> <p>Exposure to -- Exposed, work around, chemicals, odors, smells, noise, indoors or outdoors, heat, cool.</p> <p>X</p> <p>DISCLAIMER</p> <p>The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodation will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.
