<p>Our Downtown Boise YMCA is seeking Cross Country Coaches for the youth we serve. This position is responsible for managing and developing cross country skills enhancement programs within the track/field program.</p> <p>The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area. The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and multiple youth programming areas.</p> <p>Schedule:</p> <p>This is part-time positions averaging 5 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are Monday/Wednesday from 5:00pm-6:45pm from September 3rd - October 20th. Practice locations include:</p> <ul> <li>Hillsdale (Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA) </li><li>Hobble Creek (West Boise YMCA) </li><li>Camel's Back Park </li><li>West Park (Behind West Middle School in Nampa) </li></ul> <p>Coaches will be assigned to one main practice site but may be asked to fill in at other sites, as needed. Meets are required attendance for all Coaches except those at West Park.</p> <p>Meets are every Wednesday, starting September 17th and rotate between the 3 sites of Hillsdale, Hobble Creek and Camel's Back Park. Meets are from 5:00pm-7:00pm.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Create an inclusive and fun environment for participants by actively engaging and building relationships with participants, parents, and coaches. </li><li>Represent the Y at assigned sites through effective site and equipment management, knowledge of the activity or sport, and by role modeling the Y's core values. </li><li>Create a safe environment by educating participants, parents, and volunteers using the Y voice attributes and responding swiftly to incidents when they occur. </li><li>Provide appropriate feedback to participants, parents, and volunteers using the Y voice attributes. </li><li>Implement leading practices and the established curriculum that helps youth achieve the five Cause Measurement goals. </li><li>Work closely with Coordinator and Director to ensure program area operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices. </li><li>Engage participants and volunteers to deepen their relationships in the Y cause. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Track and Field and/or Cross-Country experience required. </li><li>Coaching experience preferred. </li><li>Excellent human relations skills and an ability to maintain position communication with staff and members. </li><li>Ability to address and make solid decision in emergency situations </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills including telephone etiquette and computer use. </li><li>Prior experience of successful supervisor of staff and volunteer preferred. </li><li>Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>CPR and AED. Prerequisite upon hire - 14-day compliance period to obtain. </li><li>First Aid.
