With 13 varsity sports and a mission rooted in service, leadership, and community, CSU provides a holistic student-athlete experience grounded in health, wellness, and performance.</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>Central State University seeks a Head Athletic Trainer to lead the sports medicine program and provide comprehensive healthcare services for student-athletes across 13 NCAA Division II programs. This position oversees all aspects of injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play procedures. The Head Athletic Trainer also supervises a part-time athletic trainer and collaborates closely with team physicians and the Director of Health & Wellness to align athletics and campus wellness initiatives.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Sports Medicine Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Direct daily operations of the athletic training room and sports medicine program. </li><li>Supervise the part-time athletic trainer, student workers, and interns. </li><li>Coordinate care with team physicians, physical therapists, and outside medical providers. </li><li>Oversee athletic training inventory, equipment, and budget. </li><li>Ensure compliance with NCAA, SIAC, NATA, BOC, and Ohio licensure standards. </li></ul> <p>Clinical Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide on-site injury evaluation, emergency care, and acute injury management. </li><li>Develop and administer individualized treatment and rehabilitation programs. </li><li>Conduct pre-participation screenings and maintain accurate medical documentation. </li><li>Travel with assigned teams and attend home competitions and practices. </li></ul> <p>Injury Prevention & Wellness</p> <ul> <li>Implement injury prevention programs and recovery protocols. </li><li>Educate student-athletes on nutrition, conditioning, and safe training practices. </li><li>Partner with Health & Wellness on campuswide wellness initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Communication & Collaboration</p> <ul> <li>Communicate effectively regarding injury status and return-to-play expectations. </li><li>Participate in department meetings, safety initiatives, and training sessions. </li><li>Support drug education and sports performance programming. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field. </li><li>BOC Certification. </li><li>Eligible for Ohio AT licensure. </li><li>CPR, First Aid, AED certified. </li><li>3-5 years of athletic training experience, preferably collegiate. </li><li>Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree. </li><li>Experience supervising athletic training staff. </li><li>NCAA or Division II experience. </li></ul> <p>Posting Date 12/10/2025 Closing Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants Position Category Staff - Monthly (Exempt) Budgeted Annual Salary Commensurate with experience</p>
