<p>Overview</p> <p>Adirondack Health is seeking two laboratory professionals to support the Pathologist and within our Surgical Pathology and Histology services. These positions must meet New York State licensure requirements and be able to perform specific grossing and histology functions appropriate to their training and license level.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Exercises independent professional judgement and applies analytical and critical thinking skills based on academic and theoretical knowledge in the performance of laboratory testing. Understands the underlying scientific principles of laboratory medicine as well as the technical, procedural, and problem-solving aspects. Under Medical Director supervision, performs a full range of laboratory procedures in the chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, transfusion medicine, microbiology, molecular, and pathology departments in which the MLT has been trained to perform.</p> <p>Role Expectations:</p> <p>Perform core histology bench work including embedding, cutting (microtomy), routine staining, and special stains</p> <p>Support tissue processing, slide QC, equipment maintenance, and reagent management</p> <p>Assist the technologist and pathologist assistant with case preparation</p> <p>Participate in frozen section workflow (non-diagnostic responsibilities)</p> <p>Support reliable workflow and timely slide production for the pathologist</p> <p>Educational Requirements/ Qualifications:</p> <p>Meets all Clinical Laboratory Technician licensure requirements set forth by the New York State Department of Health and holds a current and valid NYSDOH Clinical Laboratory Technician license.</p> <p>Knowledge and ability to perform testing with accuracy appropriate to sections in which they work.</p> <p>Knowledge of quality control theory and ability to trouble shoot without preset criteria.</p> <p>Understanding of safety regulations, regulatory requirements, and statistical methods.</p> <p>Ability to communicate effectively with patients, hospital personnel, and physicians.</p> <p>Job Type:</p> <p>Full-Time</p> <p>Benefits of Working Full-Time at Adirondack Health:</p> <ul> <li>Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance </li><li>Paid Benefit Time (PTO and Sick days) </li><li>Tuition Reimbursement </li><li>403(b) Retirement Plan with Employer Contributions </li><li>And much </li></ul>
