<p>Category: Faculty</p> <p>Show Job Details for Assistant Professor in Computer Science</p> <p>Apply Now for Assistant Professor in Computer Science</p> <p>The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Western Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science, beginning August 2026.</p> <p>We seek candidates committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Applicants with research interests in artificial intelligence and machine learning, cybersecurity and privacy, software engineering, networking, database systems, data science, computer systems, or related areas that strengthen and expand the computer science program's academic profile are especially encouraged to apply.</p> <p>Primary responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Teaching introductory, core, and graduate-level computer science and computer information technology courses across a broad range of areas. </li><li>Supervising undergraduate and graduate student research projects. </li><li>Developing and maintaining an active and productive research program aligned with tenure expectations. </li><li>Participating in program assessment, accreditation activities, and curriculum development. </li><li>Advising students and contributing to departmental, college, university, and professional service. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field by the time of appointment (ABD with documented completion before August 2026 will be considered). </li><li>An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or closely related field </li><li>Evidence of scholarly activity and the potential to sustain a productive research program aligned with tenure and promotion expectations. </li><li>Ability to teach courses that support the department's instructional needs and contribute expertise that complements and strengthens existing areas of the program. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Kentucky state law requires all public institutions of postsecondary education to conduct pre-employment criminal background checks to determine suitability for employment.</p> <p>Western Kentucky University (WKU) is committed to a policy and practice of providing equal employment and educational opportunities to all individuals.
