Join a supportive team that values your skill, encourages your growth, and puts patients at the center of everything we do.</p> <p>In this role, there is opportunity to -</p> <ul> <li>Collect blood specimens via venipuncture, heelstick, or fingerstick, ensuring accurate patient identification. </li><li>Instruct patients in proper collection procedures for non-blood specimens, as needed. </li><li>Transport specimens from on- and off-site locations safely and promptly. </li><li>Respond to phone and in-person inquiries professionally and efficiently. </li><li>Enter patient data, test orders, and sample details accurately into computer systems. </li><li>Adhere to hospital safety, infection control, and quality assurance protocols at all times. </li><li>Train new staff, students, or residents as assigned by leadership. </li><li>Report unusual specimens or incidents to technical or supervisory staff immediately. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent is required. </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program </li><li>Experience performing phlebotomy </li><li>Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience </li></ul> <p>Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:</p> <p>Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.</p> <ul> <li>New York Mandated Reporter: Due within 90 days of hire or transfer </li><li>New York SCR Application - Due within first week of Hire </li><li>NY Mandated Reporter Training </li><li>NYS Staff Exclusion List (NYSEL) </li><li>NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse (NYSCR) </li></ul> <p>UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran</p>
