<p>Job Description:</p> <p>A vacancy exists for an Autistic Support Teacher to work for the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in the Office of Student Services! This position is available the 2025 - 2026 school year. The Autistic Support Teacher is responsible for designing and implementing individualized instructional programs for students of transition age on the autism spectrum. The role involves creating a structured, supportive environment that addresses each student's social, emotional, behavioral and transition needs. The teacher will collaborate with other transition teachers, BCBA, related service specialists, personal care assistants and program administrators to support student development and independence.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-1) required </li><li>Strong background in behavior management and ABA principles </li><li>Excellent communication skills, organization skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to use technology to work effectively </li><li>Ability to work as a member of a team, be courteous and able to deal effectively with people, able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions </li><li>Must be able to cope with needs and behavior patterns of children, able to withstand emotional stress, must have a warm, friendly, helpful personality </li><li>Ability to follow written and verbal directions, ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision, ability to read, write, and do simple computation </li><li>Ability to work independently and make work-related decisions and exercise good judgement with student interaction </li><li>Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required </li><li>Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by MCIU upon hire) </li></ul> <p>Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and abilities. </li><li>Strong background in behavior management and ABA principles. </li><li>Deliver specialized instruction in area of independent living skills, vocational and social-emotional skills using evidence-based strategies </li><li>Foster communication, independence, and adaptive behavior skills. </li><li>Use data collection and assessment tools to track student progress and adjust instruction as needed. </li><li>Provide behavioral support and implement positive behavior intervention plans (PBIPs) in collaboration with school behavior specialists. </li><li>Collaborate with other special education teachers, speech/language therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapist and other support personnel. </li><li>Communicate with families. </li><li>Create a structured, predictable, and sensory-friendly classroom environment. </li><li>Maintaining accurate student records. </li></ul> <p>Location:</p> <p>The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and services children throughout Montgomery County, PA. This position is located at the MCIU's Discovery Center (375 Morris Road, Lansdale, PA).
