<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Newtown Public Schools</p> <p>February 19, 2026</p> <p>POSITION: Speech and Language Pathologist - Long Term Substitute</p> <p>SCHOOL: Reed Intermediate School</p> <p>DURATION: April 6, 2026 - June 11, 2027 (projected last day of school 2026-2027)</p> <p>REMUNERATION: Based on Teacher Contract</p> <p>REQUIREMENTS: Connecticut Certification as a Speech and Language Pathologist (061)</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Administering and interpreting formal assessments to determine eligibility for special education services. </li><li>Observing students in the classroom setting to assess how communication impacts their social and academic performance. </li><li>Develop and implement measurable, long-term, and short-term goals tailored to each student's specific needs. </li><li>Providing direct instruction to improve speech/sound production, language processing, and social communication (pragmatics) </li><li>Training students on Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices (such as speech-generating tablets or picture boards) for non-verbal or minimally verbal learners </li><li>Pushing into the general education classroom to help students apply communication skills in real-time academic settings. </li><li>Meeting with families to provide resources and activities that carry over speech goals into the home environment. </li><li>Medicaid Billing: Documenting therapy sessions for reimbursement as required by the school district. </li></ul> <p>The Newtown Public School District values the benefits that a diverse workforce brings to our students and community.
