<p>Snow College seeks a highly collaborative Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) instructor. The HVAC-R Instructor will deliver high-quality, competency-based education (CBE) to students enrolled in the HVAC-R program across two campus locations. Instruction will be delivered through a hybrid model that includes virtual engagement for theory and content mastery, and on-campus hands-on skill assessments and lab instruction. The instructor will facilitate student success through individualized support, regular virtual communication, and in-person evaluations of technical competencies.</p> <p>The HVAC-R program is in its third year of programing on the Richfield Campus. The college's goal is to replicate the program on the Ephraim campus. Development and growth of the program requires a visionary and collaborative instructor to successfully establish a flourishing and industry supported program. HVAC-R is housed in the Building and Architecture department. This is a 9-month instructional contract with a salary range between $58,000 and $62,000 commensurate with education and experience and includes a full benefits package. Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 3 years of recent, relevant HVAC-R industry experience. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree in HVAC-R or related field </li><li>EPA Section 608 Certification (required); NATE or other credentials. </li><li>Two years of teaching experience in community or technical colleges. </li><li>Familiarity with or willingness to learn Competency-Based Education (CBE) frameworks. </li><li>Strong virtual teaching or coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and support students in a self-paced format. </li></ul> <p>Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.</p> <ul> <li>Teach and assess HVAC-R competencies in alignment with program outcomes and industry standards. </li><li>Deliver theory-based content through virtual platforms, utilizing instructional technology, learning management systems (LMS), and digital tools. Online courses have been fully developed and implemented in concert with the college's instructional design office. </li><li>Conduct on-campus lab sessions and skill assessments on a rotating schedule between two campuses. </li><li>Guide students through self-paced learning modules, providing timely feedback and coaching. </li><li>Develop and update course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials that meet industry standards and accreditation requirements. </li><li>Design, update, and maintain competency-based course materials that support mastery learning. </li><li>Maintain a consistent virtual presence to support students, respond to inquiries, and encourage progress. </li><li>Collaborate with faculty and staff across campuses to ensure consistent instructional quality in this technical education program. </li><li>Collaborate with the statewide technical college instructional committee to evaluate and update Utah System of Higher Education aligned and approved HVAC-R course curriculums. </li><li>Collaborate with advisory board members and industry partners to stay updated on current trends and employer needs. </li><li>Expand the current industry advisory committee seeking a diversity of HVAC industry professionals from HVAC installers to commercial HAVC maintenance professionals. </li><li>Initiate and support a variety of recruitment and retention of students through active involvement in instigating and supporting all outreach events. </li><li>Create and submit semester class schedules as directed by the Department Chair and Dean. </li><li>Maintain current licensure and certifications and other professional credentials and stay current with developments in the discipline through professional development activities. </li><li>Promote a safe, inclusive, and effective lab environment for all students and ensure all instructional equipment is maintained and safe for student use. </li><li>Participate in college committees, staff development, and other institutional activities as well as other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Mix of remote work (virtual instruction, student engagement) and in-person lab sessions. </li><li>Regular movement between two campus locations. </li><li>Hands-on lab work may involve lifting, bending, and operating HVAC equipment. </li><li>Typical work hours are daytime with occasional evening classes depending on the student enrollment needs. </li></ul> <p>Applications received by 11:59 PM on June 18, 2025, will be eligible for review by the hiring committee.
