<p>POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Family Director, this position provides a safe, developmentally appropriate program for children of many age groups. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures at all times. Serve as a role model to all staff, members, and guests by personally demonstrating the YMCA mission and core values at all times. Ensue a level of service and engagement that builds relationships and fosters loyalty among those we serve. Under direction of Family Coordinator and Family Director, providing guidance and supervision for all child signed into the program. Assist children with crafts, coloring and the fun activities. Ensure all children have current and complete Family program information. Be an active leader by participating in everyday activities. Assist all staff members in carrying out the activities of the Family Program. Able to work a variety of shifts and fill in where needed. Put in vacation requests two weeks prior to taking time off as per the vacation policy. Give a 2 week notice before resigning from this position. Attend all required All Staff Meetings. Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisor.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Two years of experience working with children of the proper age preferred. </li><li>Skill and/or certification in teaching crafts, songs, stories, games, sports, aquatics and related camp activities. </li><li>Excellent communication skills. </li><li>Ability to exercise sensitivity dealing with individuals of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, cognitive and physical levels. </li><li>Have an understanding of development characteristics of children of various ages. </li><li>Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations. </li><li>Must meet all pre-employment requirements including: criminal background investigation as required. </li><li>Certifications required within 90 days of hire: CPR/AED, First Aid and Safe schools. </li><li>Understand and be committed to the YMCA mission and character development. </li></ul>
