<p>Full Salary Ranges: $18.40 - $23.00 Hourly</p> <p>Anticipated Hiring Ranges: $18.40 - $20.70 Hourly</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>City of Greeley is seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join the growing Natural Areas & Trails (NAT) Division. In this position, you will learn the ins-and-outs of daily routines and procedures in a local open space program. You will assist NAT staff to refine a GIS mapping and data management system to track, monitor and report on Division assets. This may include a variety of tasks including collecting field and site information such as amenities, plants and animals, recreation activity, and assisting with special projects. Associated activities may include research, photography, report preparation, public meeting participation and similar activities. Assignments will be tailored to provide the intern a variety of opportunities to utilize current knowledge and skills while also offering opportunities to acquire new skills and knowledge. A basic knowledge in botany, wildlife biology, land conservation or other closely related field is desired; strong interpersonal and communication skills, including face-to-face and in written format; the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and traverse a variety of terrains.</p> <p>This position may require some weekend and evening hours to attend/assist with events and public meetings. Intern will work with supervisor to create a flexible weekly schedule. This position is anticipated to work 30 - 40 hours per week. The term of the position is up to six months.</p> <p>Experience, Knowledge, Skills</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li>High school degree or equivalent </li><li>Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), ESRI products (ArcPro, Workforce, Field Maps, etc.) </li><li>Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license </li><li>Students with practical or educational experiences in natural resources </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>None </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work independently </li><li>Self-directed and able to work without supervision </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively with co-workers and the public </li><li>Ability to apply common sense and critical thinking to carry out instructions and make decisions within scope of authority </li><li>Ability to deal with problems involving several variables </li><li>Ability to follow policies and procedures </li><li>Excellent writing and communication skills </li><li>Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet usage </li><li>Proficiency in ESRI ArcPro and associated applications </li><li>Other duties may vary based on the applicant's field of study and/or division's needs </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>None </li></ul> <p>Work Environment and Physical Requirements</p> <p>Work Environment and Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>The work environment and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
