<p>Work directly with the Senior Associate Athletics Director and head coach of each sport to organize and plan specific strength and conditioning workouts for each team during training sessions. The position will provide expert instruction on the individual differences of each student-athlete within the workout and must anticipate and minimize any potential risks of injury and be able to implement emergency procedures. The position will also develop and maximize the athletic abilities required for each sport and demonstrate a cooperative attitude and work collaboratively with all sports and staff within the Syracuse Athletic Department.</p> <p>Additionally, the individual will develop a leadership/mentor role among student-athletes and interns promoting responsible behavior during and outside athletic training and competitions. Assistance with general upkeep and evaluation of equipment, and daily weight room organization is also expected. Up-to-date CSCS and CPR/AED certifications are required.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in exercise science or related field. </li><li>Bachelor's degree in a science related field. </li><li>Minimum 18 months full time collegiate/professional strength and conditioning experience, with sport specific programming experience. </li><li>Physically be able to lift heavy objects in the course of training, spotting, demonstrating and instructing student-athletes. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>First Aid/CPR Certified. </li><li>Certification (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning association (NSCA) or equivalent. </li><li>Practical experience in strength training and conditioning. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Abides by and complies with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules, the Atlantic Coast Conference and the policies/guidelines/requirements of Syracuse University. </li><li>Reporting any violations of rules verbally and in writing to the Asst. Athletic Director for Olympic Sports Performance. </li><li>Communicate with sport coaches and staff members defining the needs of each team, player, and training season. The correspondence will be written and verbal and will include all testing, and workout metrics. </li><li>Manage the exercise prescriptions and workouts for all assigned student-athletes in speed improvement, conditioning and weight training. Programs will be considering technique, injury history, intensity, and other variables that are ever changing within the academic and athletic schedules. </li><li>Work with sports medicine department in a seamless integration of the best protocols for each student-athlete based on team and individual needs of each student-athlete communicating daily with specific athletic trainers, mental health professionals, and performance dietitians. </li><li>Will manage the set up and breakdown of all workouts, stay up to date with current research and any assigned duties as assigned by Asst.
